What should I gift my friend for her seventieth birthday?

I’ve got a string of very pretty, pink freshwater pearls that cost me $25; in a black velvet pouch, that I bought for a few dollars.

I usually stick to the $25-$45 mark for her gifts, as she’s not a close friend and I don’t have much money, but lots of friends for whom to shop. Should I add on anything, like a dog poster or a silver plated jewellery box, or is what I’ve got her enough? Should I save one for Christmas and another for her next birthday?

What you got her sounds like enough to me and within your budget. You are kind to get gifts for friends that aren't close. I don't even get close friends gifts.
