What is your view on gambling?

I bought 4 lottery tickets this year because I won 2 raffles in the last 48 months, and I felt lucky. After losing all 4 draws, I decided lottery tickets are a waste of money and I now view them the same way I view candy and popcorn: a pitiful waste of butter.

I do gamble a few lottery tickets a year and a couple of reasonable bets

Used to gamble more as profit/loss training (I was told of it by a very wealthy associate who'd done it himself)
It worked sometimes you'd win and had to keep a level head and take the profit away and other times you'd lose but not to chase it like the degenerates tend to do
I realized when a rather long bet cleared at 33/1 and I was content that my training was complete

Similar to other forms of entertainment gambling is like going to a movie or seeing a show. It's fine as a distraction but other than that it's a sign that you are mathematically challenged.

I'm against it. Fair enough the odd lottery ticket or that once a year bet on the big race, but it's a mugs game. The industry prays upon those least able to lose money giving them false hope, it's no coincidence most bookmaker shops are in deprived areas usually bang next door to an off licence.

Well like many vices like drugs and alcohol it can ruin lives. But what really upsets me is how many governments have become dependent on revenue and taxes from gambling. I am not sure it worth it.
