Is waxing a good idea with tattoos?

I'm getting a tattoo down the side of my calf in 2 weeks (not my first tattoo, have one on my shoulder). I obviously want to remove the hair on my legs beforehand so I don't have to worry about it while the tattoo heals.

My question is, would waxing BEFORE getting the tattoo have any kind of negative impact? I was planning on getting my legs waxed 2 or 3 days before to let the redness fade. Would this be ok?

Also, is it fine to wax AFTER getting a tattoo once its fully healed? I've heard mixed views so far, some saying it would cause it to fade and others saying it has no effect because the ink is injected too deep to be affected.

get it dones a week before, when I had mine done it really hurt a lot more than my other tattoo did as the skin was still bruised even though the redness had gone down

its fine to wax after, my leg tattoos never faded. my tattoo artist told me its not fine to get laser hair removal on that area though as it will risk breaking up the pigment in the tattoo

I would ask the tattoo artist - they must know the best way to deal with before and after care of tattoos and which is best.

I don't think you should wax the area until about a month after getting it inked; until it is completely healed. If you really want to wax, I'd say do it at least a couple days before getting your ink. Check with your artist, but if you wax too soon after getting inked, it can and will damage it.

Waxing right before may cause little pimples that you definitely do not want while a tattoo is healing.
