Are kilimanjaro and Merida good mountain bike brands?

I am looking to buy a mountain bike and there are some that i know and heard of: Scott, cannondale, trek. I heard of the Cube from Germany. I intend to use it only for leisure and hobby activities.
What is your opinion on Merida and Kilimanjaro bikes. They look quality and the price is pretty high too, but their names don't sound that commercial to me.
Maybe some fanatics can help me with info and opinions
