+1 yI'm in the Army and personally I don't mind women being in the military however I find that they are generally treated better than males. They get paid more money than us (for clothing allowance) even though we are forced to shave and cut our hair (and they aren't). We should get paid extra clothing allowance for shaving cream and hair cuts. I also find it ridiculous how I have to do twice as many pushups than a female just to pass my PT test and run 3 whole minutes faster. I have yet to meet one female who ever had the slightest amount of trouble doing 19 pushups in 2 whole minutes. I've literally ran my PT test and overlapped a female who would walk half of each lap and I failed while she passed. Also I find that people expect more out of males in general, if there is a bunch of heavy equipment that needs to be moved, the males will be handpicked to move it while the females sit on their asses. People are generally afraid to stand up to females who give them attitude too. I've been cursed out by NCOs before but God forbid one of them tries cursing out a female. Lastly I find they are allowed more freedom. They are allowed to grow their hair very long, wear many different styles, grow nails and wear polish and wear ear rings. Males can do absolutely nothing to feel like an individual. We all have the same hair, no piercings etc. The military is supposed to identify it's service members as one uniformed team whereas they give so many different (and easier) standards for women. If women were expected perform to the same standards as males and follow the same rules and regulations as males (hair, nails, pay) I'd be 100% ok with them being here.

Asker+1 yI agree with some of your statements. However women in the navy must cut their hair when entering. We also have to wear a neat bun or we get yelled at. No crazy colors or styles. Furthermore the PT test is used to establish fitnesss. It is a biological fact that women are not as strong. We can't help that! So a fit female will run slower than a fit male on average. Thats why our standards are different. I agreee some females will take advantage of this and not offer to help with heavy lifting. I work!!! I may not be able to lift as much but at least I try. I am 30 and run a 10 minute 1.5 mile prt. I don't expect males to do anything for me. I am independent. I can't help biological differences that make it hard for me to lift and run as fast as the boys but I push myself hard. I am quiet... I keep to myself and do my work. It's not like I am in the infantry or a Navy Seal where my speed and strength are key to my successs. That's why I chose Navy and my job.
- +1 y
Well that "neat little bun" only applies if you have long hair. You can also have braids, dreadlocks and numerous other styles if you have short hair. As far as the PT test, yes there are biological differences between males and females however it's testing how fit you are to perform your duties as a service member. There is no female version of an M16 or IBA. We all use the same equipment and do the same job therefore the physical standards and expectations should be the same. Also I'm not infantry either. I'm commo, I deal with computers, and phones and other electronic stuff in the Army as a male soldier yet I still am expected to have more physical strength and endurance than a female and less freedom/less pay. I'm not sexist, believe me. I do have respect for countless females but it disgusts me how much they are allowed. It's like when we do PT in the morning and they say "profiles fall out." Over half of them are females.
- +1 y
I understand that we are smarter by nature but we should still have the same standards regardless of that fact until they start issuing lightweight female versions of our equipment and female only MOS families.
- +1 y
stronger* not smarter.
Asker+1 yI am in the Navy we don't even get guns.
Asker+1 yAnd that means the other half falling out are men.
Asker+1 yI pass many fat guys during my PRT so maybe you shouldn't be singling out women.
Asker+1 yThere are also different weight requirements based on the fact women should weigh less. So I guess I should be allowed to put on 15lbs since we should have same standards. I see a lot of chubby guys making it through cuz men are "suppose" to have more muscle.
Asker+1 yNo that would make me overweight... which is the reason the standards are different. I never said men and women were equal. We are just different. Its like comparing apples and oranges. There is a place for women in the military and workforce. We may not excel at physical tasks but every job in the military isn't physical. Women are good at things. Stop putting us down and let us work.
- +1 y
I don't know if you read my thing but I said I think they should perform to the same standards UNLESS they made gender specific weapons and Jobs. It seems like you don't realize that the Army isn't all about shooting people. We all get issued a weapon but the only time we ever touch them is when we go to the range (which is like a couple times a year). They also only weigh 8 lbs so that's irrelevant. Anyway all I'm saying is that I think that physical requirements and standards should be the same across the board unless they had gender specific jobs and equipment. I don't blame the females for it (except the ones who sulk in it) I blame the US government for making it that way.
Asker+1 yI am justifying the difference in standards. I don't think we get treated better. The guys will offer to help or be nice because they want pussy. If your not a whore or don't put out, you have to work. When I greet superior a lot of them don't acknowledge me. I have heard of a few who just don't acknowledge women.
Asker+1 yIf anything you should be mad at your male superiors for offering "HELP" to junior females for sex. They are fucking it for you.
- +1 y
Please get over yourself. I'm a virgin believe it or not. The women aren't treated better because the "guys want pussy." I'm sure it has happened before but I don't think the rules and standards were written in black and white because some guy "wanted pussy." I just think someone did a horrible job creating the standards and pay because people are so afraid to offend women. There is just so much lingering feminism to the point where now it's like the females are ahead of the game in many cases. For example I'm born as a male which automatically makes me have to pay higher insurance. If there was ever a gender law that made women have to pay more on something (just for being women) people would be absolutely outraged. Insurance should work like a credit score, if you're irresponsible you pay more and if you are smart then you pay less Anyway my point is that I generally see girls treated better. Even female leadership tends to treat the females better.
Asker+1 yOk ok I thought about it and I see your point on PRT standards. However all I can do is try my best and workout regularly. I don't ever ask or accept help from the guys. I am not sure I am reenlisting.
Asker+1 yBut you know I am right. The ONLY reason those men help or arw nice is because they want something. You may not be one but there are alot.
- +1 y
Maybe maybe not but the whole reason I said what I did had nothing to do with "why men are so nice to females in the military." The whole reason behind my statements was to explain why I'm against females being here, the standards and regulations should be revized.

Being the military I know EXACTLY the shit you are talking about I personally don't care, as long as I can trust you to have my back and throw me a mag when I'm out in a shoot out. The Navy is one of the oldest professions on the Earth and it wasn't long ago when it was a highly male dominated work force. Things changed around the late 80's and early 90's and the Navy is still very much a all boys club in the stories I've heard from my friends who have joined the Navy and/or was in the Navy and now have gotten out. I'm not against women serving in the military. I think it's the fact that the old guard is seeing new things and don't like the change and still hold views of days of old. YES it sucks but don't let those lame ass douchebag mofos ruin you stay in the military. If it gets really bad, change branches I guess it's one way to get away from the whole negative view of women in the military.

Asker+1 yThank you!!! At least one person gets why I am so irritated by this issue. I get tired of being viewed as either a bitch or a slut. If I am quiet and shy like I am naturally they think I am a pushover... if I yell I am a "bitch". It's very frustrating sometimes. Then you have military wives that don't want us here to begin with because we are so called "sluts". definitely a guys club I don't fit into. Thank you so much for your comment. Its hard being the only straight female in a group of guys and listening on their negative view of women 24/7. It really gets under your skin. And the worst thing is when you have so many women against you.
Asker+1 yOr if I am at a training brief listening to Naval History lecture and some guy comments " we shouldn't be letting women in... go home and make a sandwich" it's like people expect me to just sit down and "take it". Or if I a nice and open the door for my male shipmate and he just looks me up and down like I am beneath him and doesn't even say thank you. How could this NOT make a sane woman a little angry?
- +1 y
Yeah, that's that bullshit I'm talking about. SMFH its very blatant in the Navy, why is it like that IRDK will it change anytime soon, I unfortunately high doubt it. Or if your acting in a way that's not in their way of thinking your considered a dike! Trust me I've seen it, the whole wives thing is something a bit new to me. The way I see it look at the caliber of whom she married if a guy's a complete ignorant jackass one would think the wife is a tad bit smarter but NOPE! She's just as much of a tool as the husband! I was told along time ago being in the military irregardless of branch you have to have thick skin some ironclad type skin and even more so if your a woman it's gonna be tough but diamonds are made from constant pressure. Don't let the pressure get to you find a release and brush the hate off your shoulders. Yeah, I know it's easier said than done but perhaps food for thought? Really even for holding doors? Fucking shiiiiiiit, that's cold.

Thanks so much for the MHO! Let's be real, most civilians can say what they want but they have NO CLUE what it is like to serve so all the haters that talk shit back don't worry about them. Lastly from one vet to another, thanks for serving! I'll see you out in the field or rather not in your job but you get the point.
+1 yI can understand why the guys are rude to you after reading all of your comments. You seem like a very unpleasant person. Also, women often have it a lot easier than men in the military. They have much lower standards on PT tests, they can often skip out on PT without any repercussions, they get promoted to high levels without having to shoulder the burden of combat and many guys feel like they need to tip toe around them in order to not get called sexist. In my opinion females should be severely restricted when it comes to the jobs they can have in the military.

Asker+1 yMy "rude" comments are in response to people's rude comments about women in the military. I am suppose to sit here and be insulted?
Asker+1 yI am suppose to sit there as rude sexual comments are made about women? I am sorry the fact that you are a female downing other females who are trying to work is disgusting.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWomen in the military can be very demanding, and expect too much without giving much in return. Now, this is not every single "woman" who is in but its the majority. My husband has to deal with a difficult 1srg, who expects them to do the job with no information or updates. She is a pain, and I hope she gets kicked out for not doing her job.

Asker+1 yI will remember that next time the guys are bragging about how they cheat on their wives. From now on I don't feel sorry for you at all.
Asker+1 yI used to stand up for military wives when I'd see guys doing them wrong or talking about their "quests" Now I will just laugh along. Smh
Opinion Owner+1 yNotice I said, "not all women", but I see you must be one of those type, all the men in uniform give no respect to, and I don't blame them.
Opinion Owner+1 yJust saying not all military men cheat, probably just the ones you work with. My hubby is very loyal, if he wasn't, there would be signs, such as emotional or physical distance.
From what i understand, there are a lot of sexual relationships in the military and a lot of blurred lines. Women are distracting in that sense, sexually, and men also feel protective of female counterparts. So they're doing their job plus worried about the women.

Asker+1 ySo I shouldn't work because I am sexually distracting? How about keep it in your pants. I am independent. .. I don't need them worrying about me.

your question is far more beyond girls ask guys.
as you can see, we live in a cilvilization that constructed by advanced level of social organization and strict moral code. but who really influence people's behavior? the law itself.
the law is extract from universal value, but not all of it
in normal life, most of men will follow the principle of respect as atmosphere of feminism and egalitarianism trend all around the world , more and more powerful women hold a post in hight political position.
nonetheless, women in Military career do not seem to have any improvement. the law or the universal value hardly have an effect to counteract the traditional ideology leaded by male chauvinism, Military society shielded the cole value against any force that try to change it.
Given these concerns, none of these human noble spirit and moral existed in interaction of soilders, put the male soilders without restraint and release their instinct of beast
what else can you expect?
just like the bacteria live in a hothouse, you saw it , you can't help it.20 ReplyTraditionally it was considered bad luck for women to be on board a ship. Mainly because men are weak and they can't think of much else when there is a woman around.
I have met a number of Female Army officers in the British army and like yourself they were very intelligent, well trained and commanded respect. A lot of men join the armed forces because they can't do much in civilian life or have training or good education.
I can see from the idiots on this thread what you are up against and I am not surprised you are having problems.
All men are not like this.21 Reply
Asker+1 yYes I think you may be right. I am seeing this more and more as I get further in. The guys are douches which maybe the reason they can't keep a wife
They are indeed serving in military. But it's better if they aren't considered in fighting forces. Not because of calibre issues, but because, females are vulnerable to heavy torture in conflicts, not to mention they can be gang raped and sexually assaulted before killing her when captured by enemies.
Historical data has already shown that about millions of women have been raped and killed by military forces during world war. Women remains no more than a sex object during conflicts abd it is heart breaking to imagine such situation.12 Reply
Asker+1 yIt's the Navy men rape each other.
I served in the army in a unit that had about 3 women in it. Two were officers and 1 a sergeant I never heard anyone doubt there courage or capability but as men often think with their penis there was plenty of rude comments of the sexual type regarding these women and pretty much any other women. This is what men do in the company of other men when in a group. They talk about women. I think a lot of it was just bravado and if you don't join in then you get a hard time but it really depends on the guys because some of them were not like that at all.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThis is only a guess based on what I have heard men in the military say, but maybe because women aren't doing the same jobs as the men, and are protected more than their male counterparts, but still expect to be seen as equals in that field. Women in the military even have a lot easier standards in order to get promoted, than men. That sense of entitlement to be seen as an equal, and in some cases a superior, but not earning it by going through what the men go through seems to be what most of they guys have the biggest problem with.

Asker+1 yOnly women that get treat nice are the sluts because they are putting out. If you have morals they treat you badly
Opinion Owner+1 yHave you thought that maybe it is your attitude?
Asker+1 ySo its an attitude on a female but " being masculine" on a male. If I yell and curse I am a bitch but if a male military member does it he is just a man. Nice!!!
Opinion Owner+1 yNo, either way it would be an attitude people don't like.
+1 yOn "men"? Luckily, not all males are assholes, albeit it's possible that those in the military are more likely to claim male superiority due to how "males are inherently more powerful" or whatever. If that's their only source of self-worth, well, enjoy getting shot at the snap of a politician...

+1 yYou are talking about an system that was created by men and run by men. And now when both genders enlist, men are expected do more and the fact women are not even hold to the same standards. I for one do not agree with that or agree with the fact that women are allowed in the military. We should not send our mothers , sister, wives or daughters to fight our wars, combat jobs or not.

@asker I asked what your "career field JOB CODE" was. Any individual, in any service branch, with even 3 weeks into BMT would know this like the back of their hand and would know that is the proper manner to identify their job within their service branch. You're obviously a poser and you're obviously caught so you might as well give it up before I really decide to tear into your argument.
You should also know that being anon does to override the Google cache system. Nice try though, apparently it almost had the effect you wanted.

Any... and I do mean ANY actual service member would have been pissed by my accusation if they truly served and would have taken the time to make three simple statements that you cannot even produce. You're a fraud and that is the bottom line and, guess what, now everyone who reads this will see you for who you truly are. Consider yourself lucky I am not in the mood to truly treat you in the way I typically deal with military posers in terms of reporting. Now get lost before I change my mind (I am not kidding - you may want to research what I am talking about in terms of laws).

@asker You aren't in the Navy. You were dating a man who ditched you and now are throwing a hissy fit due to it by fabricating a story. You can't even match up the MOS to your "job title". You don't even know what guns are fired. You are a fraud plain and simple.
However, the best part of this? I put you in quite a little pickle kiddo. A nice double edged sword if there ever was one. One one end, your words are a dishonorable offense against the UCMJ and on the other end you just committed a federal crime.
Tell you what. You admit the truth and I will get over it. I think my track record is fairly evident that I both am not one to BS and also am not one who plays games. The choice is in your hands but I would truly suggest swallowing your pride on this one. You have 48 hours.
