Does it hurt to get a tattoo on your shoulder blades?

When i turn 21 i want to get wings tattooed on my shoder blades (not to big. About the size of your hand) and i was wondering if that was a sensitive area or not.

Yes! Also this is REAL bizarre because I did that exact same thing - for my 21st birthday I got wings tattooed on my shoulder blades. Copycat! *cough*

Pain charts will tell you that the shoulder blade / upper back area is more or less in the middle of the pain-ometer... in other words, there are other areas of your body where the pain would be much worse. So, I was optimistic, and thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

I won't mince words, it was truly awful. It felt like I was slowly being cut with a knife over and over again. Each wing took about 45 minutes, and I couldn't see what was happening so it was all up to my imagination... sigh, lol. It hurt. And it's going to hurt no matter where you get it done, remember that. There's no avoiding pain when it comes to getting a tattoo. I hate saying that because if it's something you really want, then I don't want to turn you away from it, but yeah, just be prepared to deal with that.

Stab yourself with a needle in your shoulder 10 times and see if that hurts. Then imagine doing that some 10 000 times and you can probably figure out if it will be painful for you or not.

If you can't handle pain then getting a tattoo is probably not for you.

Tattoos will hurt, I've heard they hurt more over the bone so I'd assume shoulder blade tattoos are fairly painful.

But if you really want it, do what you gotta do.

All tattoos hurt. Some locations hurt more than others.
Please look up the meaning of 'tramp stamp' before you get a tattoo. A tattoo may seem fashionable, edgy and trendy now, but I can promise you that you will regret it when you are older.

Okay. I have a tattoo there and I fell asleep getting it. But it also depends on your pain tolerance. I have a pretty high one but it didn't hurt at all for me.

no i have large wings on my back its the back of the ribs that hurt more not the shoulders. obviously its going to hurt because its a vibrating needles dragging across your skin but its tolerable

that image is wrong by the way the fattier areas hurt a hell of a lot more than bony areas on the main body

One thing to remember about getting a tattoo is that the really good guys will not look at you seriously. You will have to settle for average or less.
