Would you rather be wise or intelligent?

I don't think there's really anything inherently superior about being intelligent versus being unintelligent. It isn't a safeguard against foolish actions/beliefs or low self-esteem; in fact, it seems to make the latter worse, through overthinking and complex, seemingly irrefutable conclusions people make about why they're bad. As far as I have ever seen, it doesn't make a major impact on a person's ability to be happy. It can even lead to feelings of isolation and meaninglessness when delving into existential questions about humanity, free will, and the cosmos.

I think wisdom is not only more important, but it's one of the most important things in life. It has to be, because it's the compilation of how life really is, and it's only made towards the end of life. Knowing how life ought to be lived, what to be concerned over and what to ignore, and what value it has, are a huge part of humanity's struggles.

Intelligent. An intelligent person can develop wisdom. A wise person won't develop intelligence.

Intelligence is more innate, and harder to change. Wisdom is a compilation of life experiences and understandings to help make life easier. Wisdom is far easier to acquire, especially if you go seeking it.

Intelligence and knowledge are not the same thing. Intelligence is the way your brain processes and applies knowledge. Anyone can be knowledgable (is that a word?) but not everyone is intelligent.

I think wisdom and intelligence go hand in hand most of the time but you can definitely have one without the other. I think if I had to choose I'd go with wisdom.

wisdom is practical life knowledge in action... what's the point of being the smartest person in the world if you don't have any knowledge in how to operate in the day to day world that surrounds you?

Intelligent. If you are intelligent, eventually you'll become wise. It's the nature of being intelligent. If you do not become wise, then you likely weren't all that intelligent. To be intelligent is to be able to learn and make complex connections. To be wise is to apply intelligence to experience. To be wise without intelligence is to merely spout the wise observations of others. Life as a copycat is not all that interesting to me.

Wisdom is typically born of intelligence, but it is also something you also gain through experience. I guess at my age, I've gained some wisdom over the years and I am relatively intelligent.

Intelligence and wisdom go hand in hand because theyre both forms of knowledge. Knowledge allows you not only to survive, but thrive. So having one without the other will leave you a wreck of a person.
