What people need to understand is that it isn't a competition between Marvel and DC characters. The whole point of DC is that most of their heroes are mythic and godlike. They're the best of what we could ever hope to be. They're the gods that champion earth and humanity. They inspire humanity to be more hopeful and realize we are all worth saving or we could be worth saving if we dared to be better. The heroes in the Marvel universe for the most part are more grounded with more human vulnerabilities. They're easier to identify with as humans and have more human flaws. The universe is more cynical and human driven. It's more 'realistic' as far as comic books are concerned.

Now to get to the question Superman would rip apart Hulk. Superman has been tossed through an exploding star and came out unscathed, he's held a black hole in his hand, and he's lifted up a book with infinite pages. Remember it isn't a competition because most DC stories aren't about how strong or weak the characters are. It isn't what drives their stories. It's about hope, indomitable will, and the spirit to inspire the reader. The writers of Superman have said he is always just strong enough to overcome any opponent. Superman stories aren't about his incredible power. It's about how no matter what happens humanity will always have a guardian angel to protect us. He will NOT fail because he loves us so much even though we don't always love him. That may sound corny to some but that is fucking awesome to me. Would you want someone with the power of Superman to have doubts especially about his morality?

Now Hulk is incredibly powerful in the Marvel universe make no mistake. His character isn't about his power either but instead it's about how the human spirit can drive change in the world. Bruce Banner can dominate the Hulk alter ego who is incredibly powerful and harness it as a force for good. Remember Marvel for the most part is more about human driven stories. He's a human being with an incredible curse that he's turned into a gift or at least as close to a gift as he can possibly get.

They're both incredibly powerful characters in their own right but to compare them in strength is a disservice to them. They exist in totally different universes and serve totally different purposes as characters. At the end of the day all comic book heroes inspire us to be better. Whether it's being inspired by our godlike defenders in DC or the very human driven tales of Marvel, they're still great

PS - Kryptonite is not the only thing capable of hurting Superman, he is also weak against Red Solar radiation, Magic, Psychic powers (e. g mind control, telekinesis, possession etc). Superman can't use his X-ray vision through Lead. Superman can also exhaust his Solar energy. Of course, someone as strong as Superman (or even stronger) can hurt him by using just physical strength, and we all know Hulk's strength has no limits, it all depends on how much angry he is at the moment.

I think if Hulk keeps getting mad it wold be in an inverse quadratic curve manner, meaning that practically he has limits as to how much force his mussels can generate, since it would get increasingly difficult to get beyond a certain value of anger. I believe that Super man has a maximum strength which is far far greater than that of Hulk.

Hulk can bend even adamantium (which is stronger than steel).
When it comes to size, Hulk can grow much larger, if he gets hit by a nuclear weapon, but even his regular size is big enough :D

Superman is like when you're a kid and you pretend to be superheroes and you keep adding super powers and changing the rules every other minute. Every new superman movie, comic, or cartoon gives superman a new power, or increases his strength, speed, and other powers. I love DC but superman is my least favorite character because of this. Superman would win against the Hulk unless Hulk somehow got a chunk of krypotonite. (possibly from batman cause he always has kryptonite) Superman would either fight him hand to hand until somebody won, pick him and throw him into space (Can the hulk breathe in space?), or use his heat vision on him. I believe it was an episod of the justice league where an alternate version of superman used his heat vision to burn through Doomsday's skin (which can withstand a nuclear blast) and then through his skull to his brain and lobotomized him. He could probably do the same to Hulk.

Hulk can breath in space and also can heal complete brain destruction. He is a stronger healing factor then Wolverine. What it comes down to is no matter how strong Superman is he has a limit, Hulks strength is limitless.

The crossovers are not canon. The debate between who is stronger has been laid to rest by the writer of World Breaker Hulk and who is now the writer of Superman. he said Superman could not stop Hulk, he said Doomsday can beat Superman and he is a weaker Hulk.

Superman has said himself he is not nearly as hard to hurt as people believe. it was shown in a recent comic that Wonder Woman is physically more resilient and tougher then Sups. Although Superman can run at near Flash speeds his speed doesn't actually work like Flashes. All in all it really doesn't matter what we think or how we analyze it, Greg Pak was given the keys to the vault of both their actual power levels and he said hulk wins, so Hulk wins. And one writer confirming it isn't always accurate since even Stan Lee has said that Galactus is the most powerful Marvel character even though he's written characters who are way above him.

I own a comic book store so prepare to be ultra-nerded. The guy who wrote the Hulk comic for a number of years now currently writes Superman. So no one more fully understands their power level. He went on record while working for DC and writing Superman that Superman can not beat Hulk. Basically at the start of the fight Superman is much stronger, the problem is the Hulk heals faster then Wolverine, Superman could rip him in half and he still comes back. Superman has a limit on his strength, Hulk has no limit, the stronger Hulk needs to be the stronger he becomes till he beats his opponent. So basically after some fighting he would just crush Superman, I mean Doomsday can do and has done it and he is a weaker Hulk. Superman has stated in comics a number of times he isn't really super tough, he is just super strong. He gets hurt all the time. Wonder Woman is actually physically tougher then Superman.
