Should Women be Drafted in the Military?

I mean first off, I am against drafting in the first place..but like as long as it does exist shouldn't it be equal? and I mean I think drafting both sexes might help end the practice...why should men be solely responsible for the defense of the country? Women vote and have all the same rights but don't have to register for the drafted...and btw I mean drafting women into combat...not like having the men dodging bullets and women doing desk jobs...again I think if both sexes were able to be drafted there would be more resistance to it, if in fact a draft was ever put in place. Women tend to be more anti-war and people who send their sons off would never want their daughters sent...it would be a good thing in my opinion...and more fair.

Well we most likely will not be reinstating the draft anytime soon, so I don't think you have to worry about that. And women can go into any position in the military that they want (I think). Actually I know a lot more girls that joined the military than guys. So I don't really know what you are upset about, since the joining the military is voluntary and open to both men and women.

Im pretty sure the way things are set up now that if there is a draft women WILL be drafted even if maybe not all of them will be in the front lines I can't see the government saying no to half a country of extra troops if some sh*t went down

Well if ur over 18 and live in the us you do know that while you had to register for selective service...your females peers did not

When the draft was set up it was of course because women just were not supposed to do those types of things. I think now the problem with drafting women would be all the children without parents. I believe even now if a military couple is both active only one parent can be stationed away from home but not for sure.

Well why not draft some mothers and let the fathers stay home...why do the women get a pass?

That probably has to do with that they would rather have men fighting just for strength if nothing else so they are going to choose men over women. And lets face it fathers being the primary care givers to children is not a very popular idea even in this day and age.

Not "popular" but doesn't mean it wrong...if women want equality they should have to accept the negatives as well.

Studies show that women in combat decreases military efficiency. That puts our entire country - of not only women but also children AND men - at risk.

There's not only places in combat in the military. The military has all kinds of different jobs that exist outside the military as well.

if men can be drafted then so can women. Women fight for their right to be equal to men, and it can start there.

Exactly...it makes me upset women push for equality in a number of other ares...but risking life and limb in combay.....naw! better just let the boys do that!
