Yes, im not a professional. But i do compete in my town for fun. Also it is with hand wraps only (no gloves) so my martial arts training can be used to full effect
@AlexBlack007 true but its not the same. i say that because martial artist, as im refering to it, implies one specialized art. MMA both parties know multiple arts and the fights are, basically, no holds bar.
martial art fights follow strict rules and guidelines and even if you know a different art you can't use it because its against the sparring rules. MMA however does allow for art changes and has very few rules comparatively.
I like it cause the guys are showing off their strength, and it shows how though they can be. i get get sexually aroused by seeing to guys fight. it turns me on regardless of the guys looks or body. two guys beating each other to a bloody head of flesh just fucks me.
Yeah but that's the point of calling this Mixed Martial Arts right? There are so many forms of martial arts. Batman knows 127 different martial arts :P
Martial Arts are forms of fighting whereas MMA is a sport. MMA is where fighters following different forms can fight against the other. Like, Karate vs Kung Fu, Muay Thai vs Karate, etc. Also like you said, fighters can even switch forms, or even use a combination of many. The thing is, it's not necessary that two different forms in one fight removes it from being martial arts. Yes, traditionally there's one particular form but there's no such rule right? At least I don't know if there is, correct me if I'm wrong. 😅
no it doesn't make it any less of martial arts in my book, but for standard sports fighting i think it does. both parties using one art is martial and both parties changing between 2+ arts at will is MMA.
i will admit that MMA fighters are martial artists but because theyre fights are different they are called MMA fighters.
@AlexBlack007 Actually no, MMA is a rip off of the Jeet Kune Do philosophy, created by Bruce Lee.
MMA does use martial arts but it's quite different from traditional martial arts tournament /fighting and the arts themselves.
MMA is entertainment fighting and martial arts and forgoes a lot of what makes martial arts, martial arts the in the place it's been modernized.
Traditional Martial artist is martial arts at it's core the way it was originally created and supposed to be, being both physical and spiritual and far more dangerous and requiring far more training. And remains grounded in the ancient past.
Take this for instance traditional Kyokushin Karate, notice how no protection or sparing gear of any kind is being used? They're taking full power hits without protection.
In Kyokushin KArate you also do a thing where you fight against several master martial arts fighters, often champion level fighters each one you fight for a X amount of time before they switch to a new fresh fighter who you have to fight without any rest at all and they do this for at least 6 fighters agaisnt you.
The grand master and creator of Kyokushin fought 100 men in a row without any rest at all. And made a pledge that if the Japanese didn't win this one tournament that he would commit seppku ( ritual suicide ) for the sake of honor.
