Became my unit’s champion awhile ago

The rule is:

Anyone can challenge me anytime and possibly take the belt from me

No one has challenged me until now

He was talking a lot of shit haha

Went against him recently
Choked him out 2x

I’m done accepting challengers lol.
I’m going to rest now for the year

I grew up, out of it... a few years ago

and I went to different kinds of competition

Well, I enjoy the grappling side of martial arts.

Wrestling and jiujitsu

A goal of mine, actually, is to compete pro in this once I get back home.

well, if you do have a particular interest and preference, then it is best to stick to those thing...

MMA would take you on a different direction such as the kick boxing and boxing lanes

Yeah, I’ve heard of pancrase, but never really gotten into it.

Striking, even at 50% can cause serious long-term damage.
You have to be careful even in sparring that you don’t sustain consistent hard hits or you don’t do this to someone else

Grappling, you can train at 100% energy and strength without so much as a bruise afterwards.
And you can do this everyday.
More realistic/train how you fight type levels

I’ve seen old men train jiujitsu.

I’m hard pressed to see similarly aged men training kickboxing or other striking arts.

If there are, it’s A LOT lower than those training grappling arts.

that is true... best to retire young from any striking competition, or it will retire you instead not nicely

just mind those joints and hyperextensions, lol... don't get too excited

Yeah, you can certainly get injuries from grappling.

I do think it is easier to take care of them and prevent them than in striking.

It all depends on what you fancy.

I was thinking of fighting in MMA, but realized it would be too consuming of a thing to add in another completely different side of the fight game (striking) into my schedule.

Also, combined with what I’ve said above

Grappling is fun, safer, and very realistic and applicable to self-defense and other combative situations.

You should get into it where you live.

I did, for 20 years... because of my uncle, my cousins, and later in life my brother and his pals'

I liked it as an experience, and surely to burn excess of energies, but as you well said it striking is very demanding and it can be taxing

besides that, I was way TOO competitive that it could go in the wrong direction, so it was best to tone it down and redirect it in better ways, which is why I stuck with sports instead
