I'm not sure honestly but I always say hugging taller guys is preferred for that exact reason.
One other type I've enjoyed was one where a guy is behind me and wraps his arms around me over my shoulder. My friend did that, it wasn't up against me either.

the second option is sometimes rather impossible. It's fun hugging directly into a guys chest though. I like that part of the male anatomy and its so different in size and shape to what we have.

My boyfriend is a good 6 to 7 inches taller than me and I hug him differently each time. I like standing on my tippy toes so I can be face level but a lot of times he leans down when he hugs me.
