How to hug a guy much taller than you / how do guys like to be hugged?

OK so I'm pretty small (5'3) and most of my guy friends are quite tall so sometimes its a little awkward to give hugs. Should I put my arms around their neck? waist? or how do you guys like to be hugged? (just as a friend)

well my current girlfriend is your height and I'm 6'5. she usually hugs me around the shoulders while I lean over or pick her up my friends who are girls usually put their arms around my shoulders or rib cage and there is no problem. just go with what feels natural and it will work. if you need to adjust when you get into the hug and the position your in doesn't work then just shift and he will understand, best of luck.

For some reason I prefer the girl hugging with her arms above mine.

You could always hug them around the shoulders and they could lift you up, I do that and I'm 6ft 3".

We're the same height! Haha, and I also have a lot of tall guy friends that are like 5'11"...

When I hug them, I usually hug their waist so I don't have to stand on my tiptoes to reach their neck. It's just more comfortable to be in their arms, not hugging their face...

I have this problem with my guy friends too. Try going for around the waist, or one arm over the shoulders and one arm under the shoulders. the neck is just to hard to reach, and makes them bend over too much.
