What is the etiquette for women peeing while hiking with a mixed gender group?

Going on a hike with a group of friends, hiking through a mountain ridge. Usually I hold it until done if I need to go when hiking with a big group. We want to do a 10 mile hike which would take several hours. How does a women pee when others are around and there’s isn’t much secluded places to hide?

Depends on how close you are with your friends. Assuming other girls are present and will need to pee, work out a mutual way of going about it. Even without bushes, you can go to the end of the line, off a little ways, have a couple of girls stand between you and the group, and not have your booty seen. Each girl can cover for the other. If no other girls, then just go off a little ways and pee. if no bushes, go a little farther so they can't get a goof look. If you are hiking with decent guys, they will give you as much privacy as they can.

I was on a backpacking trip once in a car with guys and girls, and I just straight up told the girl who was driving to pull over 'cuz I've gotta take a piss.

Just go. Literally everyone I've ever done outdoor adventures with is respectful. Even if you don't get clear from sight, no one is going to ogle or take indecent pictures or whatever. If you're really concerned, gather a couple close friends to canopy for you.

When your hiking, assuming its in the wilderness, peeing is something that 100% of people do, so make sure you hydrate, and be proud to pee, there's nothing shameful about it, if i was hiking with you i wouldn't even think second about it. Its like breathing. The more you pee the more laughs you will get if your with a fun bunch!

I you are going hiking, it is a given that nature calls. If the guys are decent, they will not be taking pictures or staring at you while you are going. Just don't squat in the poison!

can't be barren -its not the desert. what kind of hiking trail has no growth? must be a tree or something... ask everyone to turn around. and march 50 feet away. should be sufficient.

There are several types of terrain and climate that don't give much cover, certainly not enough to bare your ass to pee. Asking people to turn around, as you said, is a good idea. She could put some distance between her and them, if she thinks some would look anyway.
