What do people mean when they say your eyes are 'lifeless?'?

I never knew what "lifeless" eyes are supposed to look like. What do you describe as lifeless?

Eyes can tell a lot about a person generally. It's not 100% accurate as some people are born with a certain eye shape and physical eye traits. When someone says your eyes look lifeless it means they think that your eyes are a giveaway that you dislike life/depressed or you dislike your current setting and would rather be doing something else, had a bad day, etc.

Well when different things are going on in your head your eyes will reflect that by being more or less responsive to light and movement. Like if you're staring at the floor your eyes are completely unresponsive, lacking the certain shine to them that makes them look lively. I don't know if that really makes sense but that's just what I observed
