As an ftm transgender man, should I shower in the women's locker room or the men's?

There are two ways to look at this. Presumably you still have female genitalia (as I understand it, very few trans men have genital surgery). On that basis, I would say use the ladies. On the other hand, if you're passable as a man that could make things awkward. Anyone who sees you going into the ladies is very likely to get the wrong idea. In that case, you would be better off using the men's. That does depend on the facilities available though, are they private showers or communal?

That does put a different slant on it. I would suggest showering at home then, to avoid any embarrassment or putting yourself at risk.

My view is that you can shower in the facilities that match your genitalia. If you have undergone the surgery then you can use the facilities of your adopted gender. If you haven't then you can't. Before anyone asks how this might be policed or verified, I have no idea. I'm not addressing the practicalities, I'm talking answering the question as it was asked and as would be my preference.

I would assume considering the person in question is transgender the surgery would come in time. But you don’t need it just to gain right to use the men’s restroom. It’s a restroom, you do your business, wash your hands, and then leave.

These things are based on sex. For most intents and purposes sex is based on genitalia. Hence go to the one your genitals match - so only visit the male locker room after the actual transition, when you are not any longer trans.

Go in the room in which you have the sexual body, so if you have a female body, I would suggest the women's locker room, and male body in the men's
