You can't really measure intelligence by IQ points but it doesn't mean they have no connection. Look at it like this: If you're an average person then it means you have 100 IQ points. When you have more 40 IQ points (which equal 2 fifths of an average person's intelligence) then you probably are a genius. If you are talented it means you have 120-140 IQ points so when you have more 40 points you become a super genius. When you're already a genius then you become more than a super genius. As you become more intelligent, you can solve problems faster and more efficiently, your short term memory becomes better and better and etc... which leads you to enhanced skills and creativity, like a bit of "photographic memory" (which doesn't really exist, it is called eidetic memory). Eidetic memory is cool and nice, but I think it would just be more useful for normal people to have more intelligence unless you're one of the most intelligent people in the world and then it might be less useful, unless something that we don't know might happen with more 40 IQ points.

IQ points. Higher IQ enables you you deal better with new situations; novel ways to work through a complex problem. Eidetic memory (real name for photographic) means you can vividly recall memories after short exposure. This is not really visual as sounds and other experiences can be recalled with striking detail. Eidetic memory is almost never found in adults.
Hyperthymesia is a related condition where people can recall personal memories of almost every day of their life. This can cause cognitive emotional issues because you can't forget things you would rather not remember. Careful what you wish for.
Hmm, an IQ of 172, or the ability to randomly call people out in their bullshit... I'll have to go with the super power!
"Photographic Memory" isn't a real thing, and only infants come close to tapping into something like it. Eidetic memory on the other hand, is the ability to recall memories in vivid detail without the need of pneumonic device.
When you remember something for the first time, you're actually remembering it. But each subsequent time you recall the memory, you're only remembering the the last time you recalled the memory itself, which is why memories degrade over time and slightly change as external factors will distort them.
It is technically true that someone with eidetic memory could recall an event multiple times at regular intervals to preserve the full memory.
Definitely photographic memory. It's always fascinated me.

If my already notably high IQ was 40 points higher, I would be among a global elite, possibly even the most intelligent being on the planet.
Plus, I feel as though baseline intelligence is a more versatile trait in terms of practical uses than a photographic memory. It would only serve most individuals while they are acquiring their formal education. Once they graduated, they'd have virtually no use for it.
Then again, a photographic memory might serve me well as an artist pursuing a creative field, because it could improve my ability to recreate objects and images that are stored in my memory.
However, I suspect that memory is already one of the components that make up intelligence. So if my intelligence were to increase, my memory would likely increase alongside it.
It really is a tough decision...Imagine going into a book store, grabbing the finest nawledge books, flipping through them and putting them back on the shelf. You just downloaded the PDF version to your brain. You'll be in your garage with your new Lamborghini in minutes.
Actually maybe neither. Both can have some pretty bad side effects.
I would hate having a memory where I absolutely had to remember everything good and bad.
Boosting myself 40 iq points would leave me socially isolated from everyone else besides geniuses basically. Everyone would want to avoid me.100%, hands down photographic memory. I would say that adds about the same or more intelligence than 40 IQ points. It would be extremely useful for maintaining any type of knowledge, which you can apply to things like tests, business, knowing people, etc. So many applications. Books would be your best friend with photographic memory. I know that I forget 99% of the stuff I read.
The funny belief af iQ points telling how intelligent you are!
It have been well known for many decades that it doesn't really tell anything about your intelligence only how much facts you squeezed in to your head no matter if you understand it or not, visualize how things work or not.
So called photographic memory can be a burden without right mindframe.Your whole question is wrong: IQ as a measurement for intelligence is wrong since the postulation of the 7 types of intelligence by Howard Gardner, a Harvard professor, and it isn’t called “photographic” because it’s misleading, it’s called eidetic memory
If I gained 40 IQ points my IQ would be around 170. Almost unheard of. I would be one of the smartest people on the planet. I could think of so many advantages to that. I can't think of many advantages to having a photographic memory.
I need photographic memory since I'm an artist. It'll be awesome just draw anything without practice 😩
High IQ is overrated. People with higher IQ tend to overthink more and they also tend to be more suicidal. Plus their right side of the brain is less developed most of the time which affects them a lot in relationships.
I much rather have a photogenic memory.. but they go together in surtain points.
Photographic memory, because I’d never have to study anymore. I could just look at it one time and be done
Photographic memory, my IQ is already high and supposedly the larger the gap between 2 people the harder it is for them to communicate and relate to each other. Not really trying to make it worse lol
Memory is accounted for in IQ.. and anyways IQ is very inaccurate and doesn't really say anything. So photographic memory.
I’d rather have a photographic memory as I’m already pretty intelligent
IQ tests don't exactly mean anything. It just means you're good at problem solving. - Which is a quote from my dad, who's IQ score is 140.
I would much rather have photographic memory.of course photographic memory lol...
that's 90% of the battle with learning anything, is simply remembering and being able to recall the information...shit I don't know.
firstly there are things that i don't wanna remember ya know
secondly being smarter than others is so gonna be a pain in the ass u feel me
but i guess i'll go with photographic memory lolIf I had a photographic memory I would never fail another test.
Someone please give me that photographic memory already.
IQ points. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't forget something.
(meaning that for me, forgetting is quite important)Photographic memory. I'd love to remember what my loved ones look like after they've passed. I miss my grandparents.
