What's the difference about being impulsive and being spontaneous?

I feel like they both kind of mean the same thing. Like they can be synonyms.
However, being “impulsive” comes with a slight negative connotation that you just don’t think about thing before you do/react. That in itself usually comes with trouble in some way. But being “spontaneous” doesn’t usually come with as much consequence outside the possibility of you just not liking the situation you got yourself into. I think being a spontaneous person falls along the lines of being an explorer.

They come close to one another but you can be spontaneous and still hit the brake when it's about being impulsive.
I like spontaneous people, I dislike impulsive people. I need structure.

Spontaneity is generally considered to be a positive trait both in men and women. A spontaneous decision is usually based on gut feeling or the needs and wants of an individual, it is usually a creative and positive thing, bringing joy and peace into the life of a human. Being spontaneous can also be liberating at times, especially when the decision taken is a daring one with a positive outcome.

Most importantly, spontaneity involves a certain amount of self-control. It doesn’t involve planning, though, which may sometimes make it look like reckless behavior. It also involves direction and a driving force other than out-of-control feelings.

Impulsiveness is not so good…
Doing something on impulse may sometimes be similar to spontaneity yet there are quite a few fundamental differences between the two. An impulsive act is something you often regret later, without the feeling of liberation and accomplishment you feel in the case of spontaneity. And it doesn’t involve much – if any – self-control either. Remember the last time you were standing in line at the bank and felt the almost unstoppable urge to hit the person in front of you chatting up and flirting with the teller while you were in a hurry? When the feeling is overwhelming, you may indeed lose control and actually strike the guy – this is when you act on impulse.

Impulsive behavior is destructive instead of constructive, fearful or angry instead of creative and joyful, and often based on desires rather than needs. It doesn’t have a positive emotional charge of spontaneity but rather comes with feelings of resentment and regret. But only after the deed is done.

For me impulsive is a bad thing. Spontaneous is a good thing.

Impulsive, to me, is acting rashly with life decisions that require wisdom and to be well though out. Spontaneous, to me, applies more to just social things and being open to just change your plans and do things at the drop of a hat. You just suddenly decide to go do something with friends and you are willing to go with the flow.

One, to me, deals more with being open to try things and to do activities that weren't scheduled for fun... willing to change plans.
The other, to me, deals with big decisions, where to live, buying big purchases that need to be budgeted, who to date/marry, how fast until you live with someone or get married, buying a car, where to go to school... etc.

Basically peoples intentions of the outcome! If you do something and it turned out to be an amazing decision. Your spontaneous, you do things on the fly and it’s great decisions. If it turns out bad, oh.. your super impulsive and can’t make the right decisions. People can’t trust you, etc... yeah like about 98-99% of things in life it’s a perception of what people feel the outcome brought you. It’s unfortunate

im not sure whetther my definitions are proper, but for me:
impulsive means acting in temporal feelings without thinking responsibly, later calling being impulsive as a sole explanation
whilst, spontaneity is a good trait, defining a basic frame then leaving options open in between that basic frame, depending on the moment

Impulsive means having an intention, like buying something or doing something without thinking. But I see your point because spontaneous also means doing something without thinking but it's more being random then knowing what you are doing

Impulses are usually from within. Being spontaneous is a trait and is mostly a reaction to something. For example, an instict is an impulse but if it comes as a consequence of a situation then it is spontaneous.
