I'm always the one to drive my friends, have friends or no friends?

Even before the gas prices went up, I've always been the one to drive. My friends will only drive 20mins away, but then sometimes they won't even ask me to go anywhere with them if they don't go anywhere. So since they don't want to drive, we hardly see each other. I would always drive to keep my friends, and have fun. I like traveling, and exploring, but now I'm done. I'm always taking them to new places they've never been to, places that are 1hr, 2 hrs away. I live in Cali, so there's lots to do. Driving far is normal. Maybe I need new friends..What to do?

Well, depending on how well you know your friends, you should talk to them about this.

If they don't like to drive, then maybe they can at least pitch in for gas. I used to ask my friends for gas money (in high school and the only one with a car)

It sort of depends...sometimes, if I don't give gas money to my friends, I'll at least buy them lunch/dinner when we get to where we go. And, my friend would do vice versa...but we're considerate people, haha.

Some people are just clueless or inconsiderate. Sometimes both.

If they're not as adventurous as you, then yeah, maybe find some new friends.

But, try to look at each of their situation...maybe they don't drive anywhere because they can't afford to. Are they always at least having fun when you do go, do they at least say *thank you*?

I would ask them for gas money, but they'll only gimme $5 that's nothing. Some of them wouldn't pitch in, and say that then they wouldn't have come out. So I stopped asking and just let us take turns driving. Yeah we have fun when were out. I think I'll still keep them as friends, but make new ones that can afford to go out too.

I think your hunch is probably right. You're being taken advantage of. You can pull the old "don't call them, let them call you" trick and see if they don't call you until they want a ride somewhere. Friendships are supposed to be reciprocal; why should you be the one doing all the work?

I would find new friends, people who like to go out and

do things, people who have the same intrests as you.

Then you can take turns and stuff and it would be more

fair to you. Meet people at places you like to go... or doing

things you like to do.

DRIVE ME SOMEWHERE...lol...yeah, you should give it a break and make some new friends and may be your buddies take you for granted now bcoz they've got used to that importance. I've also been in same situation (not driving, don't have any car..lol). I think we should always make new friends whereever you live or work. I've made some internet friends and 2-3 people are now my really good friends. So don't worry about it and move on.But don't cut off totally with your friends. Keep in touch with them also.
