Why do people treat dogs better than humans?

Question

I have always wondered why humans treats animals like dogs and cats better than humans. I like animals (bunnies, puppies, and etc..) but I don’t think they’re all that. I’m not really an animals person in the sense of if it got sick (but will feel better) I’m indifferent. I know someone who got mad because I was confused of a situation she was addressing. She was mad about two things at once and wanted clarification so I asked “wait the dog or the whole situation?” She was located simply because I didn’t say the dogs name and started cussing. I get some people who use say service dogs for disabilities but I never understood why humans don’t care about other humans and than animals. They think their life is more significant than a humans (I personally disagree with but whatever). I have seen people rather have their human family die than their dog (terrible). Is there a reason for this kind of attachment? I’ve always wanted to know

Cause people don't know how to treat people well anymore. I could cuss my dog out and raise my voice to him but then tell him sorry in a baby voice and he would come back wagging his tail. With people, it's not always the case.

People simply just don't know how show love and compassion anymore towards one another, and sense we're the only ones who can hurt each other with physical, mental or vocal violence- we became distance. Dogs can't tell you to "fuck off" or that you're a "retarded cunt" but people can. Hell it doesn't help when you have people thinking de-population and abortion is good but will want to make fund raiser to stop the death of a dog who attacked a child.

And don't get me wrong, I freaking love animals- I watch animals videos all the thing time, if you go through my history on youtube you will see a lot animal videos (my favorite animal channel is sbs tv- korea channel about animals and it's so cute and funny) however I love humans too and will save the life of person before an animal.

Dogs and Cats have low expectation (food, shelter and some stroking) hence is interaction with animals for some people a substitute for emotional transaction.

This is a psychological dispalcement. The person wishes that family members, other people would be so loyal and undemanding like animals. The reason is that the person fears she/he isn't able to handle other people's demands for friendship/relationship/social interaction. But mostly the person self has exaggerated expectations on others, like unlimited affection for a minimum (food, shelter, stroking)

As for me, I hate all pets and dogs even more. I completely disagree with the concept of dogs as "indoor" pets (for my own reasons). So while I am not answering your question, I'm just glad to hear someone ask this question.

Not only do these people treat dogs better than humans, they think dogs are better "children" than their own children.

Just slightly off topic , but still relevant.
An Australia documentary style television show was about live beef exports and what happened when they were shipped overseas , it was pretty horrific to watch , this docco received the greatest number of complaints , and stopped live export trade for a month , by the government due to the impact.
The following week was about war atrocities recent , where absolutely innocent people were killed not soldiers , received basically no complaints. So to extend the narrative to pets is to understand how people relate , or do not relate to the pain of people in certain circumstances appearing practically heartless , or indifferent.
In general people have taken things too far with pets , did you know the vast majority of dogs receive no where near the required exercise , are too fat , and sit around with little stimulation , this because the owner applies his or her values , Its a Dog.
Humans are head of the food chain , can think for themselves outside of mere survival and this assists the view people have , but remember dogs , cats and everything else will die , and many owners make this death far quicker than it should be.
Here in Thailand , like most of Asia we have Soi dogs ( Street dogs ) and Soi dog would never come inside your house , he/ she just wouldn't they would stay outside if you fed them , and they may come back because you are a food source. In essence , this is what a dog is a pack animal that fed on rotten carcases , they don't need to eat everyday the internals are built for a " feast or famine " system , they need exercise , lots of it.
Care and think , help human beings , don't love your animal to death.

the animals become like a family member, like a child... except one that gets really exited when they come home. If person doesn't have kids, they are the kids. Why then? people are hurtful and difficult, there are personality conflicts and attitudes, and emotional problems. Risks... lawyers, theft. When does a dog sue you, steal from you (ok will try to get your food...), lie to you, manipulate (ok sometimes). Dogs will submit to us and love us, so it feels good. Lastly, with a dog, we feel ok disciplining them. Humans... good luck with that... they need it, but they don't like it due to the ego, attitude, power.

Me... my cats misbehaved, I threw them outside! They are fine. If human mis behaved, I'd throw them out. Same!!!

I thought it was a meme that people like dogs more than people. It just sounds pretentious and edgy to start saying things like dogs are better than humans. I get it, you like dogs, but why are you trying to put others below your dog? Like why not let dogs be dogs and humans be humans and not try to compare the two? Studies have been made on that subject and the results were that a very large number of humans take their aggression out on pets because they know that they cannot really defend themselves against misuse and bad treatments.

Also, a number of those humans are really introvert and have a hard time interacting with other humans. So, by commanding a dog, cat or other pet, it gives them this feeling of supremacy that they don't have with other humans.

And then you have those very few people that really do care for pets because they have nobody else to care for and love.

Because animals are loyal, and if you get to know them relatively uncomplicated creatures. Animals don’t kill each other for no reason, they kill each other for food. Animals don’t go out of their way to hurt others, they only do it as their biology seems necessary. Humans are cruel vindictive destructive beings by nature, and anyone who disagrees with that try to explain away why genocide, racism and worldwide oppression are possible without looking at things through that lens. They are better.

An animals love is more basic and more pure. Have you fed it, watered it, given it a home and do you love it? Humans is more complex and more likely to leave.

My cat comforts me through everything and I comfort him. He’s my little furry angel baby and we just understand each other and love each other. We don’t worry about bullshit of has he/she cheated etc (we have the few strops) but we just love being together.

Humans are more complicated and personally I’d rather be an animal person.

People who treat their animal specifically better than other humans as a rule are caring, but misguided.

People who treat their animal better than some people is just normal.

Now I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd save a dog, before a person. But if it's my dog and I'm not confident he can make it without me, then I'm saving my dog over the person and helping them second. It's not even a matter of dogs vs people. It's that he is family and family comes first.

A lot of people like there pets and animals more then humans bc they can do, say, talk, and do what ever to/with there pet and the pat can't give its option, it can't disagree with u, it can't argue, get mad, etc etc, and people would rather love and talk to that pet rather then deal with other people, and them having there own opinions and things, this is just one part of this ik there are MANY reasons, but that dosnt make it right, while i LOVE my pet bird to death, if it came down to him or a family member or another GOOD human being, id take the person, while pets and animals are great and amazing, they are no more valuable then the life of a human!

People seem to value a child's life more than an adults, which is ridiculous to me. We should all be equal, regardless of age or where we are in life. 1 person's life is no less important because of age.

The answer is surprisingly simple and elegant! Dogs were genetically engineered for millennia via selective breeding, primarily for varying utilities (e. g. hunting, racing, farming) and, more universally, for companionship!

Dogs as we know them were LITERALLY made for us! How cool is that? Dogs are less likely to betray you than the average human. But the really amazing creature is cats. Cats can seem like real bitches, sure anyone can say that, but if you let them come and let you pet them instead of attacking them with love. I treat cats better because they are cute and adorable, soft and cuddly, can't say the same about dogs, I usually ignore them when possible.

If people wasn't so complex, we would have it much easier to be nice and friendly. Cats just want food and somewhere to sleep. Humans are much harder to know what they want.

Humans DO care about other humans - look at the evidence that shows millions of people donating to those in need whenever disasters occur.
However, animals are seen as vulnerable and less able to look after themselves like children, this is why they’re more protective over them than adults. It’s actually quite normal!

Humans have bred dogs over centuries to create the perfect companion. Dogs love us, they live with us, and they’re cute. Dogs are a constant source of companionship without having to deal with the stress that comes with dealing with human beings. You don’t ever have to feel anxious, jealous, or insecure with a dog. I wouldn't feed my family the same meal every single day like I do our animals, but in my experience if you change the food on cats or dogs they end up getting sick for some reason.

in my opinion, it's because you don't actually have a literal marriage or blood bond to make you family, it's more like an adoption! You went out and you chose that animal. The dogs in particular only need love, food, water and a warm dry place to be, they dont ask anything from you except affection.
They are always pleased to see you when you get home. They are happy with as much or as little affection you give them.
