Do you own a house or rent one?

Do you think one must buy/own a house/apartment of their own after being independent?

As for me I own my house & if you look at it another way I’m still renting it from my mortgage company until I pay that joker off. On the other hand I started off with many apartments over the years & that is only because I was bouncing around from city to city. As for where I live now I intend to stay for the time being so I said instead of paying someone else’s mortgage I want to start paying my own & that is what I did.

Owning a house is an investment if you do it right. Renting is just putting a roof over your head. I'm on house #3 and have never lost a dime save for some property taxes. House #4 is going to be some place warm and I'll be able to buy it with just the equity of my current house. You just need to be smart about your purchases.

Me and my family own one, and I definitely think it's a good investment, I don't recommend renting, because ownership is better. You can sell it anytime, whereas money spent on rent is wasted.

I own my house but rent the land it’s on. I would be renting an apartment if I didn’t inherit my family home considering owning a home is not in my price range.

I rent a home from a landlord. in my opinion this is better for me because I can move around. I also don't have to pay to upkeep the house or pay certain bills like water or trash.

I've been renting a house for a few years now. You shouldn't own too soon unless you know you can do it and know you want to stay

I own my house free of payments now. As for owning or renting as long as your paying your way that is all you need.

Well there's pros and cons to both.

You definitely don't have to buy one.
