I'm 5'10" and I'm happy with my height because it enables me to have access to just about anything I meed independently. I reached my full height at a young age so I always towered over most of my peers and even now where I live I seem to be amongst the classification of "taller" people in my area. As an adult however, I never really considered myself as "tall" but rather average even though data proves otherwise. I'd say my build is an enjoyable convenience overall, and believe it has helped in forming my perspective.

But average height where I live for men is 5'9"/175.4 cm and for women is 161.5 cm/5'4" so I'm actually not short.

I said optimal height (the genetic "average") not average where individual people live. Most people in the world are shorter than humans are supposed to be due to poor health, poor diets, malnutrition, etc. So my standards are objective, not "country to country." And any woman under 5'7"/170 and any man under 6'0"/184 is objectively short for what humans are supposed to be. Local deviations are irrelevant to me, and 5'9" is short AF on a man, anyway.

How do you not get it. If most American men are classified as "overweight" according to the BMI scale (not that it's that accurate), then yes, most American men would be considered "fat" by that scale. Kinda the same way as most human beings in the world are considered "living in poverty" by the scale of powerful First World nations like the US. The "most amount of people" being something ("average") doesn't make it a good or acceptable standard. "Average" is not "ideal" or "optimal" or even "good enough" most of the time. This applies to height like it does a lot of things. And so yes, 175 cm on an adult male is fucking TINY.

5'10" is 55th percentile.

5'11" (which is also a pretty pathetic height on an adult man; I should know) is 65th percentile. Women generally do not want men this feminine and small.

6'0" is 80th percentile, meaning 20% of men are six feet or taller. That's one-fifth of all American men; or around 28 million men (out of 140 million) in America, alone.

6'1" is 88th percentile. 90th percentile or more in anything is the minimum standard deviation, and so, is the minimum needed to be considered "tall" in America for an adult man is 6'1", rounding up a little bit (even though 6'1.5", or 186 cm, would be more accurate).

6'2" is 92nd percentile, meaning only 8% of men are this tall.

And so on.
So your numbers are wrong. But I doubt you'll even care.

And okay, that makes sense. So height is like weight. A lot of people (or at least at I) didn't assume height indicated health like you're saying it does, but if being short even as an adult means you are unhealthy and eat wrong, then it makes sense how you see it.

Shorter people overall have worse health than anyone. Taller people have some health problems, like sore joints, sore knees, etc, but not until they hit 50. They are physically larger, so their bodies will break down more, especially if they are tall and overweight. 6'0" is the golden zone. Men 5'8" and under have worse organ problems, like heart attacks, and are more prone to get cancer than anyone else. Men 6'2" and up have the aforementioned joints issues and also are more prone develop arthritis and mental health issues, like dementia. However, the main thing is that whole being both tall and short has health issues, only one of them also has social issues, and it ain't being tall.

I like it because it gives me advantages in some ways... women taller guys and I have a physical advantage that has kept me out of fights and helped me win others. Because most modern Western women will refuse a guy who isn't six feet tall or over.

And plenty of men out there are six feet and above, so there's not exactly a shortage of taller single men to go around.

And even women nowadays are commonly 5'8"-5'11". It's not exactly rare to see a 5'10" woman walking down the street. In The Netherlands, like every other Dutch woman is 5'11".
