If you have the option of a more temporary cheaper place, vs a nicer longer term more expensive place, which do you choose?

You can afford the nicer place if you hustle a bit but you’d be saving less and it’s more of a commitment. But if you don’t take it you won’t get another chance and it’s ALMOST perfect for your needs And preference. Well 8 out of 10.

The cheaper temp place is OK 6 out of 10 and gives you wiggle room to look for something maybe better than the other place 🤷‍♀️

When I am working on the road... typical LOA is about $125.00 a day/worked. So if I am working 5 days week/. 8 hr days that's $625.00 tax free to live on for a week...

I usually find a bed room to sleep in for about 500 a month.
So I bank up about 1050.00 a month on top of my 1500.00 * take home. So about $2140.00 every week take home including the 625 per week. So every month I usually make and take home about $7000-$8000 a month.

When you are working away from home. Work and slave make your money. Work the over time then you go home in the summer to sit back and relax at my water front property.

Actually depends on what my call is and how far it is from my job office.

I would select on that if we never hustle we won't do better so hustle can be made.

But if saving is my priority I would go for cheaper one places opens every where if not immediate but sometime and by that time I would be at good place bc of saving I would afford any other good place.

If I really want to saty at exoebsive one I would still go for it I would stay till I please or as agreed and I can move later to cheper place if it doesn't work out

Well, what can you afford? A couple of observations. 1) moving SUCKS and it is expensive. 2) You should love your home and look forward to coming home.

Is your income steady and commute acceptable? A long commute can really take years off of your life, not to mention wear and tear on your car.

I suggest buying a starter home. You will probably find the mortgage cost is about what you are paying monthly for a decent apartment, but you will need a down payment. Yes, you will be responsible for upkeep on a home but that's why you have veteran GAG friends who can shepherd you through any repair ;)

I would go with the nicer and longer term option, especially if I am moving to a new place, because it will give me more comfort as it meets my needs and preferences AND if I can afford it, and it gives me a chance to save less but still a chance to save, I would not mind the extra hustle... life is a hustle down here anyway.

I'd probably go more expensive. Because you might end up spending close to the same amount with upgrades.

Me personally I'm a person that's all about functionality. If it serves my needs I could give less than a damn what other people think.

The way I see it life is limited so we have to make the most of what we have today.

So if the nicer place is attainable and within budget go for that, it makes all the difference being in a good environment trust me on that one

Best to invest in the more expensive place now then when you retire then you can sell and get a nice chunk of change and then move into a smaller cheaper place and live comfortably when you get to an age where it’s hard for you to work
