Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yYes. Because I want to be a trusting person. But because so many people lie it renders that impossible for me. I've learned to be very good at sniffing out lies but the drawback it has also made me a bit paranoid. Also when you catch a liar seldom do they own up to their lie. So if I could read their minds I could trust everyone. Because the liars thoughts would betray them.

+1 yEh, I kind of already am, lol. Not a mind reader but I am very empathic and that helps me read other people's emotions easily. When you can read their emotions, it's easy to kind of predict things. Add strong sense of intuition on top of that, and you practically have a super power.
In most cases, it's not a good thing. Too many people have very dark emotions or are very fucked up, and being an empath like me makes it impossible to stick around those people because it sucks the joy out of me.
Few people are emotionally stable and have their shit together, and I'm in constant search of those people.00 Reply
+1 yOnly if I had the ability to stop whenever I wanted and not just constantly be hearing people’s thoughts 24/7.
As someone who constantly overthinks, believe it would push me to be more confident because I wouldn’t be second guessing myself of “I wonder what they think” etc. I would just know.40 Reply

80 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Already kind of am, telepathy is real but mind reading I do not have under control. I tried a shared thought once and it worked. Usually me and her will pick up on things at the same time, but it's not communication level. Simpler things like sending certain sensations or feelings is easier depending on the intensity and complexity of the feeling. So things like warmth is the easiest, while she can do things like touch very clearly as well. But your brain needs the right context to comprehend what is going on, so it all depends on how easily your subconscious mind can translate what is being broadcasted, the strength of the broadcaster and how close your bond is with them in general.

+1 yIt would be really nice to be able but in a way that your not passively mind reading. If you just where reading minds all the time it would be annoying it's not the lies that would be problems but rather the stray thoughts people have that have no real meaning and are just an internal idea or thought that isn't worth sharing and you would naturally keep to yourself.
So as an ability that you actively have to put effort into getting it to work would best00 Reply
+1 yThat'd actually be pretty helpful. But you can't go blurting out what bad things other people are thinking. It's like making an accusation on someone for abuse without proof.
If I could read minds, I'd be the biggest snitch, ngl. I'd be a menace to criminals and the wrong-doers. I'd go out of my way to let someone know that their lover is cheating on them or at least give them hints.00 ReplyYes but not the mind reader where I will start hearing every single thing people around me think off. It will become hella annoying. I won't be even able to sleep as I sleep with my talkative sister and I will hear her talkative dreams all night. I just want to know in short that what are the intentions of the person.

+1 yOn the surface sounds like a great idea, but in reality, I would be terrified of people.
I can see it now, hearing them insult me or creepy guys thinking how they want to do sexual stuff to me but will never get a chance unless they do it by force but then they have internet debates about it.
Everyone needs to be able to compose their thoughts properly, I do not think I would want to hear or read the raw thoughts.00 ReplyI understand you mean it as like a crazy superpower which would obviously be great - like you know some bitch smiling to your face while you can know she's calling you a bitch in her head - But to the extent of human capabilities - I like to think I'm already like that - I can easily read the room as well as know how someone is feeling (not why but how is pretty good) - Problem is that when you have that you either become really suspicious of people or really repulsed by them..
00 ReplyNO! If I were able to read thoughts over time nobody would want to be around me. I would in essence be abandoned and all alone. I would also be able to see deep dark thoughts. How would I feel if I were married and my wife was hiding things from me That's a marriage down the drain! Besides being 100% honest it's all I can do to keep up with my thoughts, much less another's!

+1 yNo. I do not want to know what others are thinking because if someone committed a heinous act I would be place in a legal and moral dilemma. Legally I could not intervene based only on thoughts I heard. Morally I would be conflicted because my desire to seek justice for an evil act I discovered would conflict with the laws as they are written.

+1 yAlternatively, I’d like to share thoughts. Mainly the things I hear but sometimes see too because no one takes my career seriously. Well, some people do but most of them are like, “son of a bitch, no one likes you”. They don’t actually say that but it’s kind of close to feeling like that

+1 yAbsolutely not. I’m intuitive and hyper-analyze facial expressions. It’s very tiring because I often feel what they feel, not in its entirety obviously, but I don’t want to add the weight of knowing what they’re thinking.
00 ReplyYes there are times I’d love it. You would have to have thick skin though as I’m sure there would often be times when this ability would be hurtful. I’d definitely opt for an on/off switch for this “superpower”.

+1 yIt depends on how much control I'd have. I have serious problems with invading people's privacy, but if I could control it, think what I could do to help with language barriers. Or babies. Or even training animals.
00 ReplyI would like to as long as i had control over and could use it at free will, instead of constantly listening to everyone around me.
I would just use it to get out of jams, knowing what to say when i don't know what the other person is thinking or going through in order to avoid a conflict or a misunderstanding. Just like that. With great power, comes great responsibility.00 Reply
+1 yNo, not on my life or anyone else's.
The amount of thoughts like all whites must die, I'm being oppressed because I'm black and the empty thoughts of the white people trying not to offend anyone... Would drive me insane...00 Reply

+1 yPeople I know who can say they can wish they couldn’t , because it makes them dislike people. I think that may be true. Maybe that’s the reason most of us can’t be telepathic or clairvoyant.

+1 yNah I'd hate people a lot more because I'd be exposed to everything raw thought and that'd be dodgy very quickly, the pros don't outweigh the cons for me at least XD
00 ReplyDepends, can I turn off my powers when I want, or will I always hear what people are thinking? And how far is the radius?

+1 yIf I could turn it on and off. While there are plenty of times I would love to know what people are thinking there are an equal number of times I don’t want to know.

00 Reply I already am a mind reader. Most people's minds are as empty and boring as my closet.

But in all seriousness, no; I do not want to be a mind reader.
