I’m already in hell. If Earth was meant to be a happy place for human beings, why is there so much suffering in this world? I read a lot of Walt Whitman’s poetry, and in one of his poems “Animals” he compared a human to an animal.

I’m Agnostic. I don’t believe in the concept of religions. I’m not sure if God exists. I do believe in a higher being. But I don’t believe in Jesus or any other Gods from any other religion.

I won’t feel a thing after I die. Even if there is a hell, I don’t really care anyway. Humans created poverty. They created sexism, racism war, hate crimes etc. Everyone is selfish to an extent.

A nice sentiment- if clearly one from a man who doesn't know too many saints. That's the whole point, though- he was singing to his Catholic girlfriend, and rejecting not the underlying morality of Christianity, but the mere social devotion to its trappings. Joel himself is an atheist, but even he understands that if God wanted slaves instead of followers, he'd've started with Mohammed, not Abram.

Sinners can be fun. I see the merit of rebellion. But being a "saint" doesn't mean you have to be boring. I see his point but he trying to be witty and critique christian fundamentalist, this quote is both true and false depending on how you look at it
