What was your first time driving like? Any horror stories?

I had my first driving lesson today, and I did really well. Drove for about 2 hours and had no accidents. What was your first lesson like? Anyone crash?

Oh good lord, buckle up (no pun intended)

The first time I drove a car I was 13 with my uncle. My mom was following behind us in her car. It was so nerve racking, especially when I drove us into a ditch.

Fast forward to last year when I went to take my actual drivers test. I was so nervous that I drove on the wrong side of the road. Where I live it’s quite snowy at that time of year and the meridian looked like a snow bank. I felt like such an idiot. The evaluator said I would’ve passed, but since it’s a dangerous action it’s an automatic fail.

I was absolutely terrified of driving, especially after I’ve lost a few friends and family members to traffic accidents. However, with time I became more and more comfortable with it. Now I have my license and I love to drive. Especially after I’ve had a bad day, listening to music and driving around for a bit is just *chefs kiss*

I think I was around 8 and was driving a ATV on the farm, did not crash and it was fun.

First big vehicle, I'd been about 12 (don't really remember though) and was driving a tractor around the farm.

First road legal vehicle, would of been 14 driving a farm pickup around the farm and it was stick shift. I learned really good how to spin tires out and drive a manual.

First time on the road, for drivers ed. Easy for me, due to that previous experience but still kind pretty scared when the drivers ED teacher had me get up to 55 on the highway, it felt soo fast.

I'm trying to think back 60 years when I got my learner's permit. I passed my driving test the first time with as perfect a score as anyone had, including the instructors. I was learning in a 1958 Dodge Coronet. You know the kind, looked like a jet plane, drank fuel like a jet too. I didn't have an accident until I got my permanent license. Showing off to my buddies I took my '53 Ford Crestliner down a dirt road, mostly sideways, until it slid off one side then the other and stopped suddenly against a cement culvert.

my first time was cool. i basically just drove to my friends house then came back.

however within a month of getting my license i got in a bad wreck at an intersection. totally my car which was a hand me down from my older sister.

my first time driving on an actual road was in my mum's boytoy shitty Ford KA, that had a habit of losing power. So I slowed down for the busiest roundabout on our route, and it dies. power steering gone.
Scared crap outta me. Car horns went off from the pissed off other drivers.
Didn't drive for a couple of days after that, but learnt from it and got pretty good at restarting like a pro.

Lol, I don’t remember my first time driving, but I remember after I got my license, I hit my sisters parked car because I pulled in too close next to her car. Our driveway is a bit confusing, hard to describe.
I broke my headlight lens and scratched up her car (which was already scratched because she’s a shitty driver). I’m not much better, but I was not taking my ADD meds that week and extremely distracted from other things. Her scratches buffed out and my boyfriend fixed my headlight lol.

When I was 9 I was going to move my mothers car so me and my friends could do gymnastics on the pavement, I backed into the flower stand next to the driveway and I got scared and went forward fast and hit the garage. I almost hit one of my friends when I went forward.

When me and my brother were 14 we used to drive around in my mother's car when our parents would go out. We would usually just cruise around town and wave at kids we knew. One day we brought the car home and my father's car was already in the driveway. Apparently they came home early. They were not amused.

None here I grew up peddle car to riding lawn mower to farm truck then tractor all before I was 10. By the time I hit the road it was second nature. I parallel parked 3" off the curb while only looking out the driver's side mirror which the examiner said "I have seen enough you passed"

I was driving vehicles on private property long before legally able to drive on streets. By the time that came it was a natural move.
