How old were you when you learned how to drive and what was the experience like?

And who taught you how to drive? Where did you first drive (i. e., parking lot or around town)? Were you nervous or excited?

The first time I learned to drive was just a few days after my 15th birthday after my mom took me to get my learner's permit (for those outside of the states, whenever a teenager in America turns 15 years old, they are able to obtain a learner's permit to drive after they pass an exam). And my mom taught me how to drive in a parking near the softball field at the sports complex. And it was nerve-wracking with my mother cause she literally kept yelling and it was making me even more nervous especially since I was learning how to in her SUV. My dad on the other hand was definitely an experience and this is why. One evening my dad wanted me to drive to our town's grocery store in his pickup truck that he had at the time and me being short the pickup did not have a device where I could make the seat higher I had to use a pillow to help (it did not help) so I was a bit nervous but it was just to the store which was not far from my house. After we left the store my dad wanted me to take the long way home and this is where it gets interesting. As we are driving a man comes running towards my dad's pickup and starts banging on the driver's window. My dad told me to stop cause he knew the guy. The guy told me and my dad that, "his bull got lose and he needed to catch it". My dad told the man, "I am teaching my little girl how to drive", the man tells my dad, "she's good she's good" and opens the backdoor of the pickup and told me to drive. So here I am age 15 driving around in my small town helping a man catch his loose bull, while he and my dad are talking about football and eating cajun boiled peanuts trying to look out for a loose wild bull with the rest of town's help. Long story short, we did catch the bull, my mom was furious, and my teachers found it hilarious. And that is how I learned to drive, by helping a crazy farmer catch his bull.
