In general... unfortunately yes. Comes from the piss poor (Gov't-run) education we have. When the teacher can't find the US on a global map, there's a problem right there.

I always loved looking at maps, so I tend to be excessively good at it.

So many Americans are well-traveled. Not only are Americans good at geography, they're well educated with various cultures and social studies of places they've visited. During my travels, it so happens that Americans are the ones effectively helpful with their good advises because I think it's their true nature to be helpful. Videos the depict Americans and people from different nations as dumb or stupid are biased propaganda to smear such people. Don't believe everything you see on the internet or television.
