It's been awhile since we had a geography question, so here goes...

Name two countries that start with the same letter and whose name contains the same number of letters.

For example, India and Israel both start with the letter "I" and have 5 letters in their name.

Let's see how many we can come up with.

Cymru is it's real name and there is a campaign to force the rest of the world to use it. Wales is a from a saxon word to refer to those tribes that clung to their Roman identity. Cumbria in England comes from the same root as Cymru. Since most of the world speaks English the English name, Wales, just stuck but in the UK both are used interchangeably. There are relatively few welsh words for other countries and most are just phonetic spellings of the English version

Wallis means "from Wales" the English equivalent would be Wallace. Basically anything starting with wal has the same germanic root, so walnut = a foreign nut. However in American dictionaries the word welsh means someone who goes back on an agreement or a thief.

There are different types of monarchies. The UK isn't an absolute monarchy. There are only a few of those.

Fine, if you wanna get THAT technical and specific, Oman is a sultnate and their ruler in a "sultan".
The ruler of Bhutan is not called a "sultan". So Brunei and Oman are the only two if you wanna get THAT technical. I mean, there are other "sultanates", but Oman and Brunei are the only countries that are sultunates.
