Geography Question #2 - What is the THIRD LONGEST RIVER?

Day #2 (Monday) of this week's geography questions... as requested by G@G members.

There's a debate over whether the Nile or Amazon is the world's longest river, so lets skip that and ask "What's the 3rd longest river in the world?"

Please don't cheat by looking it up. Make your best guess.

The correct answer is the Yangtze River in China, which (according to most sources) is just 17 miles (27 km) longer than the 4th longest river, the Mississippi River in the United States.

In case anyone is wondering, the picture is NOT the Yangtze, it's the Yellow River in China, which is the 6th longest in the world.

The longest river is the Nile River mainly in Egypt, and the second longest river is the Amazon River, mainly in Brazil. The third one, for the longest time, WAS thought to be the Mississippi River in the US. But China stole that honor by cheating to artificially extend its length and get a "one up" over America. I saw it on a YouTube video. Probably RealLifeLore or one of those channels.

So now, as of 2022, I think it's the Chinese one. The Yangzie or whatever. It's a nasty dirty river full of pollution and grime, too. It also supposedly smells bad. China did all this just to beat America.

I looked up the "Chinese river" but not the details.

I'd agree with the yengzi in China. Apparently being so difficult to cross was a major factor in slowing down China's industrial revolution.
But since its now just a big sewer I think it's disqualified.

I am not sure on this but my Chinees teacher said it in her peresitation about China that it is the yangze ( i am not sure on writing )


Other wise I'll go with the Congo River heard it's pretty long 2

well... the third longest river is kind of a debate as well, some say it would be that system in the US, others would say it is the one in China, lol

Close, the Mississippi is #4, losing out by less than 20 miles to the Yangtze.
