What would happen if men's fertility was limited like ours?

Hypothetical scenario:
- A strange mutation took place and spread through all countries, globally. It's a permanent change and nothing can be done to reverse it. Suddenly men have a limited reproductive cycle to father a child. Their sperm count will drop drastically after age 35 and the possibility of fathering a sperm is much lower. After 40 it gets hard to nearly impossible.

What would possibly happen if men had a limited time to have kids? If that wasn't in their favor anymore, what changes do you think would take place?

Either men would want to fuck a LOT more than they already to to make SURE they have a kid at SOME POINT before they lose the ability and/or women would want to fuck a lot more to BECOME mothers since, waiting too long would kick them right out of the race! Also, the legal age limit would probably drop drastically because the younger you are, the better your chances of getting pregnant and, if your chances are greatly limited after just 2 or 3 decades, you're GONNA want to get that baby factory up and running a LOT sooner!!

I don't think it'd be too unlike when life expectancies were in the 30s or 40s for the human population. That was actually the case already in 1860 (39 years was the life expectancy back then). Society would probably shift towards treating much younger people like adults.

Maybe more focus on menial jobs, less on education except for a certain elite class, things of this nature. Both men and women would be expected to marry and have children at a very young age.

The biological clock of women has extended as well since then though, just not as much. I tend to think technological improvements that extend that further like IVF is one of the greatest keys to finding a more equal society where neither men nor women feel rushed to have children. But in a society where both sexes have a cruel biological clock, I think inevitably it's going to be one that has to treat much younger people like adults.

pretty sure a mans fertility does drop as they age though, sperm count and quality does get worse...

Yes but what would happen if they their biological clock was the same as ours, if they were limited?

Then women would have to start accepting men that aren't established in a career, don't own a home of their own, and can't be the sole provider for the family. Women would have to start contributing more and accepting a partner that is less knowledgeable of the world, that is less sure of himself, and that may still need to move for a potential career opportunity in the future.

Female would go for younger men, men would remain the same.

Then more people would go back to marrying younger like in the old times. Both would be the same age.

Not necessarily same age, just less spread than today, so 30 old men would be the peak attraction for females. So that gives a spann of 10 years. Instead of 20 years.

Men would bank their sperm at a much younger age and create a decent stockpile.

Men’s natural instinct is to spread their seed far and wide and have as many offspring as possible.

so I don’t think much would change for us.

That’s fine. I have enough kids already but, knowing us guys, we would just have as much sex as possible after 40 since we won’t have any unplanned pregnancies anyway.

It would be glorious to witness overpopulation rates plummet within a few years and would save the expenses of vasectomies or better yet castration

None.. I don't think men should have children at above 40 anyway.. the age gap is too big .
