Will a shelf that comes with its own anchors hold up more weight than it says it holds hold up more weight if I add anchors?

Like it says it holds 20 lbs and it’s about 2.5 inches thick but it’s like hollow.. but each one of the brackets say it holds 80 lbs each..

I feel like for $35 a shelf 36 x 6 should be more heavier

Yes, by adding more brackets, you are reducing the amount of weight on each bracket. If the shelf is hollow, then it's not designed to carry a lot of weight, so you may see indentations or other damage if a lot of weight is placed in one spot. If you want to go with this shelf, rather than a heavier duty one, place a bracket at each end, and 2 more (1' in from each end). Also, make sure at least two brackets are screwed into studs in the wall, and the other two can use toggle bolts or self-drilling anchors. I'd still keep the load under 100#. It was designed for knick knacks, not heavy weight.

it could potentially, id say find a stud to screw it into on one end, and bracket the other side if u can't stud it, if its a metal shelf I wouldn't be to concerned. But if its wood, Id put a few more l brackets on it just in case, not those cheap as mollys, get the good ones that spring open once u shove them through the wall..

Don't waste your time, bud. That sort of shit tends to exaggerate its weight bearing.

If you're going to put heavy stuff on shelves, Get solid wood shelves.
