Currently I’m living with my 90 year old father, so I don’t have rent or utility bills, in which case, yes, I could make it on $20k, but it’d still be tight.

Otherwise, I’d need a complete lifestyle change, including getting several roommates and moving far away from my area. Where I live, the rent for a 1-bedroom apartment is probably $15,000-18,000 per year, that’d wipe out most of the $20k if I lived alone. Electricity might use up the rest of the money before you even think about how tight your food budget might be. You’d need to keep your rent as low as possible. Maybe in the middle of the country somewhere in a depressed area you could find cheap rent, but to live in a major metropolitan area, you can’t even get a warm doorway for much less than $1,000 a month. You could get public housing and public assistance money through government programs, that’ll get you by, but it’s no way to live.

I'm really not quite sure what you are asking.
Could I spend that much in less than a year? Sure. I could spend $20,000 USD in the morning, and still be home in time for lunch! But, that is simply foolish.
Could I live for a year on ONLY $20,000? Heavens no. Between our property taxes and our medical insurance and medical bills, that 20K is gone before we even start!
