I've known a few cartel guys and tons of pisas, all have been friendly. We made each other a good amount of money and developed a decent working relationship.
I wouldn't want to be in the cartel but friends is fine and always better than enemies.
Just mind your business, show respect, don't take fronts ever if it can be helped, have your money in order, and doubly mind your damn business.
A front is where you basically get your drugs on credit. Paying that large of debt back in a timely manner usually requires you to selling as quickly and high a price possible. Can't cover your debt because you were robbed, arrested, or whatever? Too bad. Consequences range from working for the cartel (honestly not great for you), you forfeiting property or physical health and occasionally they'll see if your family will cover your debt. Usually at the threat of your and your familes life.
I'm not sure honestly.. That was how I was introduced to them, if I hadn't been involved with drugs and since I don't live near the border or own property there I'm not sure why we'd have reason to cross paths
But why? Your thugs are richer than me, all of you are stronger than me, I have 0 skill that I can use to contribute to your organization, I have 0 idea what you guys do (wink), nor who you guys are.
No thanks, they expanded from drugs into human trafficking now. They clearly would think I'd be better off as merchandise to sell than to be my friend. There is always strings attached and they do not see people as people.
Similar to gang recruitment.. join or be killed.. I only knew of one kid who joined a religion and they told him "if you ever stop serving your God, we'll kill you."... odd case.

@LovingLoverReturned why would you even mention “blood diamonds“ given that it was a term invented by the Diamond cartel in London to make people stop buying diamonds that they did not control, my statement about the Diamond cartel, and your statement about blood diamonds could not have anything LESS to do with each other.
That may not be true. Also, if you are aware of how the diamond trade works, it's a trade. Markets don't keep one type of diamond to be boring... variety is important.
And blood diamond isn't a tale unique to Sierra Leone.

I genuinely appreciate your concern for children of Sierra Leone re: “Blood diamonds” or “conflict diamonds”, but where is your concern for the children in Sudan who have to dig w/ their bare hands and tunnel in unstable areas with zero safety standards, all to mine cobalt which is absolutely needed for the production of solar cells, and electric cars? I get that you are a compassionate person, but @Still-alive asks joke-like questions, sometimes he asks serious questions, and those I answer seriously, but this… This was not a serious question, so I gave a non-serious answer. When I see you rallying against buying solar panels, electric cars, and Li-ion batteries… or NIKE products which are made with slave labor, including CHILDREN! THEN I’ll take you seriously regarding blood diamonds (bearing in mind that I own precisely ZERO diamonds! @LovingLoverReturned Well, given my stance on the useless need and exorbitant cost of diamonds, it will NEVER apply to me, as I won’t wear ANY diamonds (and my trust fund would allow me to buy enough diamonds to fill a bathtub) I still don’t care! They are a waste of money! My engagement ring will be a man-made diamond, (not a CZ an actual lab grown diamond)! I just do not believe in wasting money on stupid shit like diamonds! Sorry, but it’s just not something that comes anywhere near my orbit of influence. As such it falls into my sphere of apathy! I’m far more concerned that there are open-air slave markets in Lybia now, that N. Korea pays its debts to China and Russia with slaves, that cobalt is mined by child labor in Sudan, that MANY children die in collapsed “mines”, and that everything from batteries, to solar cells, and electric cars need a LOT of cobalt! And lastly that modern athletic wear, made in China, was most likely made with either child labor, or slave labor… THAT is what bothers me far more than an issue of blood diamonds that was occurring before I was even born!
