Is it really possible for future development to allow technology to replace us humans?

Not replace totally but change how things are,

there is a big drive to look at more robotic automation with agriculture and how we manage the global food chain.

in a lot of sectors such as finance, technology already has had a huge impact with vast numbers being made redundant, high street banks gone from local towns and only really in cities.

Technology will over time shift humans to need new skill sets to get jobs, and make money in a more technological focused world.

It's already happening, so many job functions are automated these days putting people out of jobs. Even in our lab we have machines that can do parts of our jobs for us, they are also faster and more accurate. In some sectors such as mine (medical research) it can be a benefit, in others it just means redundancy.
Technology is so impersonal though, I don't even like using the self checkout because I prefer thr human element.

Well it will supply more repair jobs for all this tech. And it's impossible that what, we will all become poor? Live in the streets? So how will these companies make money then?
