The list you provided sounds like the “essentials” for grocery shopping, and I mean, bacon could be added as a replacement for, well, any protein.. But it just doesn’t sound like it belongs lol… For example, you don’t write a grocery list and say, “Milk, bread, butter, cheese, oh… And bacon!” xD


As a replacement for bacon, I would probably say “eggs” sounds like it belongs.

It all depends.
Bacon is not a dairy or breakfast product and also requires cooking, so you could say bacon.
Then again, milk is not solid food, so you could say milk.
Then again, butter is not a food or beverage, but more like a spread/sauce, so possibly that.

Bacon, it's the only word that doesn't have a consonant diphthong, two consonants pronounced together: ch, lk, br, tt

Br is a blend, tt is nothing, -lk is a consonant ending, and ch is a digraph. A diphthong is 2 vowels that make one sound: ea, oi, ou, ee, ai, etc.

@Amy10223 Sorry, I used the wrong term. My answer is still correct in that bacon is the only word that doesn't have double vowels. My guess is that you are an English teacher, possibly retired.

I’m a former special Ed teacher, and I was trained in Orton Gillingham, which is a method to teach reading to dyslexic students. Good guess.

Thanks for teaching dyslexic students. I'm amazed at how many people are dyslexic to some extent. I'm not dyslexic, but some of my typing appears dyslexic as my left and right brain halves need to communicate with each other. You may see many of my posts contain "teh" instead of "the" because of that.

Im a bad typist and make those mistakes a lot.
There are many who have dyslexia of some kind, for reading or math. I think the reading is more of a problem for many. Yes, I miss teaching those kids. It’s a shame I only did that about 5 years before I retired.
