Lots and lots of NEW stuff, just like everything else, people are unoriginal. Recycle/remake movies, well names are the same way. Think of all the cities called NEW something, or in this case a state.

Kind of makes me want them to rename the original one to OLD Mexico.

Again, this is merely a fact, and I don’t ascribe emotions to facts. I have honestly never once even thought about New Mexico in terms of being a “new Mexico”! In fact, I have about as much emotion connected to the existence of New Mexico, as I do to the existence of New York, or even New England, for that matter. Nor do I have any emotional connection to Nova Scotia, which is merely Latin for New Scotland.

I didn't think anything of it. I knew about it since childhood. We first went there when I was just a toddler. I was probably just like, "We have a state called New Mexico, that's cool."

I remember on Barbados our driver asked me how I found out about Barbados, and I was just like, "I already knew about it."

Old York is in Yorkshire England, it's an old viking settlement that's grew into a fairly nice city.
