If we're talking about "the horizontal tango", my body nowadays is hardly ever ready without some needed foreplay.
I gave birth to my first son on Feb 24 of this year & I take care of him pretty much 24/7. I get one night a week to sleep, the other nights I let my SO sleep because he works. My SO spends roughly 3-5hrs (depending on bedtime) with the baby, but it's his "fun/relaxing time" & I try to make sure he do indeed relax.
My SO is always down for a romp, but it takes a lot of mental preparation on my part nowadays to feel any amounts of ready for sex. When you've been surrounded & occasionally crusted with body fluids all day long, it's hard to find the "sexy" part of myself.
My SO tries, but just hearing "you're so beautiful/sexy" only goes so far & what foreplay we do have feels forced & mechanical on his part, which makes me shut down some mentally & just allow things to move on & get it over with.
But, hey, sex is just sex, who said a woman should actually enjoy it?

  Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS! Secondly, I'm sorry to hear that. This should really be a very happy time for both of you. Sex too. But I get the exhaustion part. I never had to raise a baby, but my 10yo stepson was exhausting enough. My ex & I were both SO tired by 9pm that we would just crash.

Ready for what? If its to run a marathon, then no, never! However, I’m sure there are lots of things for which my body IS ready for! So, as with most things in life, context is everything!
