Are you a misfit?

I was at a convention last Saturday and one of the senior members at the company said: "... as they say, the nail that sticks out gets hammered down..."

I have always been the misfit everywhere. At times being the eyesore for everyone, otherwise being the most loved and popular one. It has always been one of the two extremes, never inbetween. 😂

How has it been for you? And how has it worked out for you?

I am and pretty much always have been. In a lot of ways I'm happy for it. Because I have found that it's a lot easier to be friends with other outsiders. Drama and other issues never really become an issue. Also the friendship's tend to be a hell of a lot closer with fellow misfits. So I prefer being part of a small flock of black sheep then part of a larger flock of regular sheep.

I don't intend to ''fit in'' - that would make me a submissive member of ''society''.
Most likely, I'm not the most popular person :) - but I'm happy to not sell out my soul, my talents or my values for opportunistic goals.
In fact, my obstinate mode has delivered me compliments from people who count.

People say a lot of things about me but to sum it up they basically say I'm nowhere near normal so I guess I am a misfit but I don't mind because at least I'm not just a clone of some other random person or whatever

I have been a misfit all my life. I never dated anyone in high school and in college I found another misfit who became my first girlfriend.

That's awesome. Certain people are gifted I think on how they are with others. What makes you know you are the most loved and popular one? What makes you different if that makes sense.. how do you treat people for them to be that way towards you

I treat everyone the same (with a few exceptions). It's how I get treated.

Just to give you an example: I was never a trendy person. Never keeping up with trends. Still don't. That was a big deal in high school. Especially with fashion trends. It wasn't that big of a deal in college. (I have very few close friends left from school, and have a lot of people who admire me in college).
Another example: I have always been straightforward. I don't like beating around the bushes. If I disagree with something, I'll say it to your face. It gets me into trouble with elders. On the other end of the spectrum, there are those who admire the boldness to speak up, so they look upto me.

Oh yes I can see that then that can be a good thing and not for some people. I don't keep up with trends at all either lol that's good though Mr. Popular some people are just likeable. So you're good at keeping the conversations going I assume..
