So long story short she has a rare disease and out of frustration she started crying because she feels helpless and hopeless but the doctors charged her for it which just seems pointless and fucked up, what are your thoughts?

OK, here's my thoughts on this. The $40 was a charge for the doctor's "counseling" over the person's emotional breakdown. However, I've never heard of it being handled like this. A surcharge for crying?
If there is such a surcharge, this woman needs to get another doctor and do her crying in her therapist's office. This doctor is ridiculously calloused and not compassionate toward his patient. There are a few people who are doctors because of the income and not because they want to heal people who are hurting.
Maybe she's run into one of the 10 percent. She needs support in a medical professional. And please, if you ever run into this yourself, or with a friend, get them to COMPLAIN. LOUDLY.
Time is money and I guess I he doctor charged her for his time to get her through her sadness. Still, it's pretty ruthless to charge her and I would change to another doctor for sure.
Doctors can be dickheads I've been to a couple who never examined me and sent me on my way that is why I choose Women doctors they have a way with their patients and this is no offense to Males and even Women Certified Nurse Practitioners have a kind way and are affectionate.
Its weird to see a doctor charge anything after an appointment. Im germany you just see your doctor and leave.
But there was this other case where a woman was charged for just sitting in the waiting room, so i guess there is nothing you can't put a price tag on.
