+1 yI was getting my blood drawn to see if I have HIVs. I didn't know that they had to take five or six tubes of blood from me. I didn't eat anything because I couldn't find out what to eat, since everything were frozen meat, and I really didn't know what to cook with what I had. So I just went to my appointment hungry. During the third tube, I knew I was feeling weird. Then the fourth came and my body started to feel a little hot and uncomfortable and then the last two tubes had me feeling my worse. After she was done with the last two tubes, I laid back in that seat and put my forehead against the wall. Closing my eyes, I saw white spots. Lots of white spots. The nurses (I was at a women's clinic or women's specialist) put a cold rag on my head and neck and they gave me a cold bottle of water. I felt my body fighting and it was the most uncomfortable thing that I have ever gone through. I just wanted all of that feeling to end. It was unbearable. It was gone after what seemed like forever, but really, it was like 1-3 minutes. Then my body sort of calmed down and I could open my eyes again. They wheelchaired me out the room and out the building. My aunt, who had drove me to my appointment, got out of her car, asking what happened. One of the nurses told her that I was just feeling a little faint.
On the ride to McDonald's, my head was hot and parts of my body was getting hot due to my forehead being hot, filled with blood. Whenever one part of my body gets hot, then some other parts of , my body will get hot and I start to sweat.
I do not like that experience.10 Reply

When my ABS brakes locked up as I was going 35mph down a steep hill in the rain, and I was headed towards one of the busiest intersections in the country. Traffic at the intersection goes 45 to 60mph. I was sliding, and had enough time to send a text if I wanted to. I was thinking about how to survive, and I was about to turn towards the parked cars, since no one was in any of them. Suddenly a car pulled ahead of me and stopped at the red light, and I absolutely had to hit them to stop. Totaled my car.

+1 yWhen I quit drinking 12 years ago I had no clue I was physically addicted nor what alcohol withdrawl entailed. I just knew I needed a change. Well three days and nights of no sleep and severe dehydration (along with 15 or so other withdraw symptoms) later I started seeing things. I knew they couldn't be real, think of horror movie type shit. It was like having a nightmare but being fully awake. Anyway I couldn't move or shout for help because I was so frozen with fear and trust me I tried. My dad ended driving me to the ER and they told me I was an idiot for trying to stop drinking without medical oversight and got to spend the next week under medical watch as I finished going through withdrawal. I was lucky I didn't progress to delirium tremors. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

You just helped me understand what happened to my brother. Holy shit.
He went through exactly this, and he was going cold turkey before this. He was taking allergy pills, and he thought that was it, but this is exactly what happened to him. Oh my God.
I stayed with him in his room for a week while he argued and fought with the devil, and he couldn't sleep the entire time. Holy shit. I need to call him, or fuck that, I'm going to go see him. He hasn't tried to quit since. Fuck. - +1 y
@Staximus not according to the doctor. He said it was sleep depravation and dehydration that caused the hallucinations. He also said that if I hand't gone to the ER when I did that i was maybe 10 to 12 hours away from progressing to delirium tremors and then there would be nothing that could have been done. I was a partier in my teens to mid 20's. By my late 20's I drank to unwind from work. The progression from no withdrawal symptoms to what I described was about two weeks. I went from being functional (just got a promotion at work) no major problems in life to not being able to make it to noon at work literally overnight. It definitely was an eye opening experience as I never considered my self an alcoholic as I knew people who drank more than I did who were much older who I didn't consider alcoholics. It definitely changed my perception of addiction and addicts as I am one.

I also got ran over by a van on my skateboard when I was 7 in 1984 , and rolled my '73 Blazer and got ejected from the vehicle in 2000. Those were both really scary but I lucked out and was able to walk home both times.

When I braked, harder, the bike straightened up and I came to a halt on the wrong side of the road. I almost puked in my brand new helmet.

I have to keep alert coz my best friend was holding on my hand really tight while she's crying and at the same time I kept on thinking about my sister and my mom at home. I thought we're going to die scattered.
I didn't she'd a tear instead I comforted my friends who clung to me crying. But I can feel myself shaking.00 Reply3.2K opinions shared on Other topic. Hmm, I don't often get scared, I get anxious, sure, but scared? I'm not sure. There's situations where I should have been scared, for example, I was in a traffic accident, but instead of being scared, I was too distracted by trying to survive. Must have been as a kid I imagine.

Night terrors are a sleep disorder in which a person quickly awakens from sleep in a terrified state. The cause is unknown. They are not nightmares.10 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Other topic. When I couldn't find my daughter in the store.

For me, that fear was deep and super cold fear. It reached into the parts of me that felt like the abyss. I've never felt that kind of cold fear in my life. I remember that for about 10 seconds, I started thinking about how I was going to have to call and tell my mom and dad, and I started going full on panic mode. Not out of fear of them, but because they I was about to give them dose of this absolutely horrible feeling.

@youngmix
I'm sorry that happened to you but... you met a part of you that you didn't know. You met your bestial self. You were desperate to find her and you would have done ANYTHING to save her.
I'm assuming you found her and all was well? I hope.
That's an important moment in everyone's life, to meet their bestial self. Is it empowered by selfishness or by protectiveness?
Huge individual lesson.
Please tell me that she was ok - +1 y
@youngmix
I'm happy that it ended well for you and her.
Sudden trauma is a good teacher.
And, again, you saw how you reacted under extreme stress. It's a big deal. Are you going to flip out, fall on the floor and cry, challenge strangers, interact with other rescuers?
Take it as a blessing in disguise.
Some people crumble, you were ready to stop traffic.
I say "well done!"
I hope you never have to deal with that again.
But if you do I'm sure you'll do your absolute best to keep her safe.

I don't like that little you almost died in a terrifying way, but that happened to me too. I was 3.
I was deciding if I was going to swallow the water, or just hold my breath until I passed out. When I got to the point where I was jumping to the surface of the water, and my mouth was barely making it above water, I thought that was it.
I decided that I would hold my breath and fight till the end. - +1 y
I was screaming to my mom before I got too far out to not recover, but she was ignoring me. She thought it was dumb kid screaming, but I was screaming out of absolute survival and terror. I still hate her a little bit for that. I love her, she's my mom and she loves me, but I can be cold as hell to her, and I swear I think it goes back to that.
In some of my dreams, she watches me drown.
