Report cards report cards report cards!!!
only 25 students… each student with 6 sections of personalized comments!!! 2 -3 hours per section … how many hours of weekend time?
When I went to school… I got… “have a wonderful summer!”…
now 6 personalized paragraphs per students… AND they check to make sure we write it their way.
Still people out there think teachers job is done at 3pm…

next weekend!! Even more fun… she is making us scan 7 packets of writing pieces into drive. 6-8 sheets per packet… our math teacher did the math… 1200-1500 sheets per student. No other schools are doing it this way… we said it’s abusive and excessive paperwork. Her excuse is… just in case we go remote… the city have declared we will not go back to remote again.
there you go… the life of a teacher… that many don’t know.
hey… I still love teaching even though they are making us teach these kids to not be successful…
they make us use curriculums that will make kids fail… then we get the blame… this is another story.

Yeah… I said I love teaching. Children are amazing and they are ready, eager to learn! Even the ones with some family issues… I can work with them to give them love, hope to do better.
Do you believe teachers finish at 3?
Are you okay for teachers to teach curriculums that they know it fails kids?
You are saying, we should not complain about the administrative decisions?

The whole grading system is crap, there shouldn't be a grading system, if schools really cared about how kids learned then the grading system wouldn't exist, that just puts pressure on kids, I'm not speaking about you but in general about schools

The wake up call… they don’t care. It’s not about the kids. It’s about funds and datas.

We send our kids to school to socialize… my kids know at this age… they are bored to hell in school. They teachers ignore them… they just make friends and do their own things.

I recommend my top student to be tested for gifted … they don’t have a seat for him.
I begged that one of my student who requires special evaluation, their data doesn’t show therefore he doesn’t qualify. Oh well… these are the ones that falls through the crack.

What’s your recommend for grading system? How to best evaluate students?

I don't think they should have a grading system, they should have exams and tests but I feel like grades are just so parents know how they are doing and they get their ass whooped, then that makes kids not want to go to school and not like school because they feel pressured to learn and learning under pressure could actually make learning harder, they shouldn't have a grading system where they send out report cards for their parents to sign, it would be much more effective to just send parents letters that their child is struggling at school because tbh I feel like the grading system just makes kids look bad, what about kids that have learning disabilities or hard learners for example, grades are putting the intelligence of a child using letters and I think that's just wrong, I feel like parent teacher conferences are much more effective as well, because the teacher gets to talk to a child about where they are struggling instead of having grades tell parents that their child sucks at a subject because tbh what exactly does telling their parents do? They learn at school not at home so parents solutions are to yell and whoop kids asses when they get bad grades which makes a child not want to learn

And of course they gotta have options to give to parents, like tutoring, after school classes, or classes with different type of teaching strategies

When I was in grade school I used ot get my schedule on the first day of school. I never gave much thought how the schedules were created. Then I became the technology director for a K-12 school system. We bought software that was supposed to automate the scheduling process. It is a really difficult thing to do the make every student get the classes they need and make everything come out even.

@themajesticking777 I understand where you are coming from regarding grades and parents not understanding how to respond to the grading system or how to help their children when they receive report cards.
I am not sure where you are, but we connect with parents in multiple platforms to have daily text messages and/or phone calls. Even though our "office hours" is 30 minutes per week. Most teachers are "on call" to talk to parents on their own time, evenings, nights, weekends... I had a parent text me 1am sigh...
During other meetings, we explain to the parents how grading works.
We are also trying to educate parents how to talk to their children.

I believe in discipline... however there is a fine line between discipline and abuse. Certain culture have taking it too far by hurting kids due to their anger/emotional instablility... rather than discipline to teach for the better of their children.
There are many who understand grades don't determine ones intelligence, of course I see many who will demand their kids to have upper 90s otherwise they get punished. I don't think there are easy solutions when it comes to parenting.
