I've had nothing but bad experiences with US car manufacturers (the companies) as a whole, and while my grandfather loved Dodge and Chevy, he was replacing them every few years until he died.
That said, I don't really see Dodge and Subaru as competitors since they're most known for completely different types of cars that generally don't appeal to the same audience. Dodge's competitor is Chevy, and Subarus typically rival Toyota.

No, they're not.
Of all American-made car companies, you couldn't GIVE me a Dodge/Chrysler. Those cars are THE worst engineered pieces of junk I've ever driven. They start off looking good and seemingly OK, but within a year or so they start breaking down nonstop. And they tend to break stuff that should NEVER break (door handles, shift levers, door locks, etc...).
Comparing dodges to Subarus is kind of like comparing apples to oranges. It really depends on what you want, which aspects of a vehicle you value. I would say in overall cost and reliability Subarus are a better option.

I have found Dodge to be very reliable. The Ram pickup, trucks have a very good review as well. My wife had a Plymouth Horizon for 15 year. I t was in such good shape, when we sold it we had people practically fighting in our driveway wanting to buy it.
Subarus always has issue with their transmissions in the past. But either way, the general rule is the less power a vehicle has the more reliable it will be. Less strain. But also the parts an be made cheaper too... Just check recalls on the history line up from both
That would accurate, but not by much, depending which ranking list you want to use. Subaru ranks #7, Dodge (Chrysler/Fiat) ranks #9. If you want a car that will be on the road long past 200,000 miles, or 120,000 kilometers, get a Toyota or a Honda.
I would have to go with a Subaru.
I've known people that routinely get over 200,000 miles or more on them.
They used to have an issue with head gaskets failing around 100,000 miles.
Not sure if they finally fixed that.I wouldn’t buy either. Dodges are junk and subies are legendary for blowing head gaskets and several other expensive engine issues
I've always owned dodge trucks. My kids and my wife all have subaru cars. All our vehicles are reliable and problem free if property maintained
You're comparing grapefruit to grapes
Subaru's aren't reliable lol
Buy a chev.
Dodge? That shitty company is still trading?
