Can you tell the difference between year, here, ear?

When these three words are spoken in your local accent how difficult are they to tell apart?
If you hear the sentence "this year I'm having surgery on my ear so I can hear." Your brain automatically realises which is which. But spoken alone without context it can be difficult in some accents.

I can tell the difference easily

I have no problem discerning the difference between year, here, and ear but it is due to accent. Most Americans speak with a rothic accent so we tend to pronounce the letter "r" clearly in most words. It might be a problem with some British folks since many of them speak with a non-rothic accent and so those three words may sound the same for them.

It’s easy in California accents or whatever but my friend has a heavy southern accent and I literally can hardly understand him half the time 😖

I have no problem with southern accents. Usually they speak so slowly you can anazlye every syllable, maybe even a couple of times.

I can usually tell the difference easily, but it depends on the person's accent. For example some British accents tend to drop the 'h' and sound like "Oim avin' surgery on me ear so I can ear."

In Northeast US, it's not a problem telling them all apart. In the South, though, "here" and "ear" are pretty much the same.

Weren't you supposed to get that ear surgery last year? It might be a bad sign that you didn't hear anything from the surgeon.

I've never had an issue discerning those words. Same goes for other accents spoken in English.

I can say the difference easily. It's actually quite noticeable in Indian accent.

It depends on the topic. New ears eve? The first and last word makes up for the imperfection of pronoumciation.
