Does anyone else think Cement is greatly inferior to Asphalt and Stone?

I don't get why it's so commonly used, asphalt is better for driving and stone is better for walking, while concrete is an awkward in between that is bad for both

I guess it depends on where you're from.

Where I live, asphalt is terrible. It never survives a winter without cracking/buckling, and it's even been known to melt in the summer. The roads have to be re-paved practically every year, or every other year, costing a ton of money.

Meanwhile, the concrete roads just keep on trucking, year after year, without so much as a pothole. That's why the interstates in my region are all concrete construction. They hold up much better than the asphalt roads.

It depends on the climate and also cement is way cheaper to use.

I don't know but I think stone is harder to work with. As other folks have said when the temperature gets up around 40c asphalt starts to melt, which might be the new normal.

Concrete lasts much longer than asphalt and is more expensive as well.

What's "awkward" about concrete? And actually asphalt is becoming more commonly used because it's cheaper. But concrete lasts longer and is stronger.

Asphalt is not always superior as it greatly depends on the climate you're in.

Depends on your use case. I wouldn't build a building out of asphalt.

Asphalt can break up
