Given the globe is in a drought, is this something you would do or support socially to reduce elevated usage.

My hair's already short- but even if it weren't, it'd make a LOT more sense to save showering for when it was needed; most people DON'T actually need to shower every day. If it's July? If you're doing manual labor? Sure. But if you're sitting in an air-conditioned office, using deoderant, and never even sweating or touching dirt? Yeah, skipping a day is probably fine.
Or you could be REALLY smart, and not insist on growing a useless weed you can't even EAT that can't survive in the local climate without constant watering, but hey, what does NATURE know?
Yes grass is a waste it seems. We are used to daily showers in our country. In times past people would bathe several times in their life due to lack of water. If the drought keeps on… some people will have to make choices. thanks for reply
When my hair was longer I’d wash it like 2 or 3 times a week. It was a lot of maintenance yes because not only do you waste a lot of water with trying to get your hair routine in but the amount of money you invest into hair care products can be expensive.
Right now my hair is like this right now. And I do have to say that I wash it 2 times a week not and it’s less maintenance and I don’t waste much water anymore thankfully. But I didn’t get the cut because of the water issue I mean it helped but I did it because I dyed my hair blonde back in 2020 so I still had some bleach left at the bottom of my hair tips and it looked really weird so I decided to chop it off. BEst decision I’ve ever made because my hair seems healthier than before.
And no that’s not me in the picture this is just an example.
Yeah I would consider it, I mostly have long hair because it grows fast and also I wear it back for work as a nurse. I really only need it long enough to tie it back. Once I had it cut really short so I could donate it to locks of love and organization to provide real wigs to kids with cancer and I needed to donate at least 10 inches, I never did let it get that long after that.
That is silliness as like 70% of Earth is covered with water. People can drink seawater too as I have in Thailand and survived... Some areas have it worse than others. To generalize that long hair is environmental is absurdity. I assume you know this already?
If people wash their hair in the ocean it’s fine. I’ve yet to see anyone do that but the opposite… they wash after getting out of the ocean. Taking long showers to wash hair consumes more water than washing short hair. That seems obvious. Some areas of the country and globe will be required to reduce water usage very soon. There are obvious solutions but my question remains…

beautiful hair like hers should be protected...
shut down a couple of Golf resorts instead, lol
Agree. But i don’t own the golf resorts. Reading the news they are talking ‘everyone will have to make sacrarfices’ in those areas affected.
everyone else yes... so they can keep their Golf resorts open
I wear my hair long.
And I refuse swimming pools, spa's, washing the car or the bike, I have no lawn.
My showers take less than 10 minutes; I collect rain water in a well for my gardening;
copy that :D and there's no need to worry about hair.
I wash my hair every three to four days. I don’t take long showers. To conserve water, stop promoting the meat and dairy and eggs and processed food industry. Those require a lot of water, while fruits require many times less. Use the Focker toilet rule: if it’s yellow, let it mellow; if it’s brown, flush it down. Swim in the beach or river or lake instead of the pool. Recycle more: it requires more water to make raw materials. Get dreadlocks and you’ll need to wash them just weekly. Collect rainwater to water plants and to flush the toilets (just don’t drink it!).
Bam private swimming pools & let people keep their hair 🥵
Yes there are many other things we can do.
I have hair down to my mid back and no I’m not going to chop it off.
Purtty! ;)
Where I live we have more lakes than any other country in the world. I'm pretty sure I can wash my hair daily and no one will notice.
Plus, my hair is already super short. 😄
My hair isn’t very long. But if it was, I wouldn’t change it for that reason.
Why don’t we have reserve osmosis plants instead of water reservoirs. Constant production of water
Aye, but don’t forget the law of conservation of mass: however much water we spend, we get it.
We will think about that later. First think about how to save water from tanneries? Why only a part of human population would work in this? Everyone should, short haired people as well.
Yes… will require lot change. More than likely cost water goes up, restrict watering… and people adapt as they wish. But that hits the pinched middle and lower income harder.
I would do other things before that to conserve water.
uh i only wash my hair once a week. i think it's fine.
I try to shower at the gym as much as possible to save water and energy.
I only wash my hair once/twice a week and my lawn is nearly burnt to a crisp from my water conservation. I don’t think I’d go shorter on my hair. It takes very little time for me to wash when I do.
How can the globe be in a drought? There is always the exact same amount of water on Earth. It just changes location. If one place is in a drought, another place is not. Retards.
I think that's true but I'm not an expert. I can only guess it is in the air as vapor. However, the rivers in many areas are record lows, in my area peoples wells are going dry. The 1930's saw a dust bowl occur for many years. There's a reason major cities are built on rivers... water is essential resource. Some areas won't have enough and may not have enough electricity.
Your point is a fine one because what could come next could be dangerous... too much rain on hard ground... flooding!
You’re right. Mass can’t be created or destroyed.
When my hair was short it took just as long to rinse. My hair is very thick.
It's not on long haired people for that. How is it their fault?
I'm not saying exclusively, it will take sacrifice from many. if this drought ends, all is good. if it doesn't... change is coming to some communities...
Lol, again. Not their fault. Why not get on the decision makers for how they run things?
People have made decisions based upon what they had at the time. Those assumptions are... becoming invalid in areas. From what I read, they are starting to change decisions but it's going to hurt... question is who/whom is going to change. Our greatest strength is ability to adapt but as well, noone likes to change and give up what we have. That's the piont of my question.. you did a good job of bringing it out.
Ill try to find the article I read about west USA... colorado river is very low. Don't get rain, people downstream gotta cut back... everyone. Obviously you cut off golf course water, but... they got big $ and power... won't be only ones to pay.
Ain’t their fault. I’ve long hair and wash it sparingly.
@lightbulb27 It's still their personal decision.
yes it is, not making a law. each person will decide how they reduce their water usage. as the cost of long showers goes up, people and society may think differently. the easy way to make this change isn't to ask on GAG, it's to tell hollywood and the image creators in la, ny, milan what to promote and let the sheeple follow.
That would make no appreciable difference. The most important thing is to stop pouring water on the ground — eliminate irrigated lawns, and use more efficient means of agricultural irrigation
No... I wash my hair once a week what's the point?
That’s efficient. I’m surprised …
Why surprised? It's better for your hair
I heard that and to wash using conditioner ever other time. But what I generally see is people wash their hair every day. As well, I'd think causes itchiness if don't wash frequently or other issues. maybe some people and cultures /skin types it works ok.
It doesn't cause itchiness. It's the opposite actually
Best thing to conserve water and reduce carbon emissions is to lose weight. Obese people have a higher carbon footprint.
I've seen people with long braided hair that looks like it hasn't been washed in a month so I guess water is not a problem.
Ironic considering lithium and computer chip production use massive amounts of water and we’re only increasing our dependencies on them by an order of magnitude.
It's not about the length it's about your type of hair. I have locs and I originally had 4c hair before the locs. My hair would take forever to get wet so that meant I had to be in the shower longer.
Wow... What a stupid question!!!
If you are so concerned, go do something about saving rivers, trees.
I’m amazed at the reaction of people to not be open to change. I do whst I can and I turn water off when showering to observe water. I don’t play golf nor have a swimming pool nor water the yard. Nature will decide our options…
Don't need to conserve water, I don't live in an overpopulated desert with droughts or a uninhabitable zone.
7/10 of the globe is water. It's the politicians that are the problem.
A lot of it is salty. Some areas have abundant fresh water… some don’t
i only haven't shortened my hair a bit yet because i dont know how i want it
so like
ik i like it long so thats just safe
Lol the globe is not in a drought. In any case I wouldn't cut my hair to save water.
The globe can't be in a drought it is basically a closed system. Parts can be in a drought; but then other parts will be flooded.
To conserve water?
Do you realize how stupid that sounds?
Do you realize how stupid that really is?
It doesn't seem a valid reason to shorten your hair. Unless you live in a barren desert. And it's that it drink urine.
Yes. And I think it's a shame that Biden's climate bill didn't include free haircuts.
NO ONE should determine their hair length based on water conservation. That's just silly.
No. I don't have long hair but this strikes me as nonsense.
No I wouldn’t
that girl in the pic is just 🤤
My hair is already short
Thank god I’m bald
Whaat?
Yes, I would., IF I had long hair.
No I don't care
If I had any, definitely not.
Come on now don't go there
Absolutely not lol!
hello
i already have a long bob
Nope
