"Motion picture" is another term for "movie". Technicolor is a proprietary method for developing exposed color film that makes it look more vibrant on the screen.

Technicolor isn't. only a method. It is also a company, which uses that method.

However that Technicolor is probably not the same company as the one for motion pictures.

There is also a Technicolor company founded in 1893 in France.

Since 2 have the same name, they are mistaken for each other.

American Technicolor company and French Technicolor company are different companies with the same name.
