Our society openly declared a worldwide Milgram experiment, and nearly every last one of us failed miserably. In the face of a threat less dangerous than a chicken pox outbreak, every last claim of caring about the infirm, children, and the environment was thrown out of the window. Governments made open use of war powers against their own citizenry, and said citizenry roundly shouted down anyone condemning those uses. We're headed down a very, VERY dark path.
