I know this guy that was studying architecture. He was a waste man he never went to class, failed exams and had to redo the year.

After graduation he worked really hard, established a company and builds mansions and designs businesses. He’s so rich now in a Bentley

This is surprising but I am not sure I do believe the story.

It is not by redoing one single year that one can get back to where he should have been after failing his exams. It would take substantially more than just redo one single year, even when studying hard.

Working very hard is basically what people should do to succeed, unless daddy is pushing a little with financial support.

I am willing to believe the second part of your story because that is basically what studying is all about. The only other thing that disturbs me is the fancy car. That would lead me to believe that the guy is just a show off because any normal person that studies hard to achieve something does not have the need to display his wealth...

A person’s ability to gain an advantage in any profitable aspect of life is the only thing that really matters in the end.

That doesn't surprise me at all. There are certain traits in young people that are decent indicators of how well they'll do in life, but there are enough exceptions that it's not a surprise when they do the opposite of what you'd expect.

I know when I looked at people I went to high school with 10 years after they graduated, it was pretty unpredictable. I look at different indicators now and I think it's more reliable, but it's still far from foolproof.
