My uncle. He wasn’t really my uncle, he was an old Chinese man who worked night shift and would make sure I got home ok. My whole life is full of guys who wanted to hurt me, use me, and mistreat me. He was the only man I ever met who cared about me and wanted nothing.

He was kind, sweet and an amazing listener. I knew he worked two jobs and somehow he always had time to listen to a messed up teenage waitress. One time after my boyfriend beat me up he saw my bruises. He didn’t say a word when my boyfriend came by a few days later and just walked right up and ripped him off his motorcycle and beat him till he cried. It sounds messed up but I cried because it was the first time I felt what it must be like to have a dad.

When he died, I died a little. I’ll always be grateful that for a year and a half I got to feel what other kids must feel. A parent that cares, and someone who would listen and help with their homework. My world is so much darker without him. But I never would have lived through high school if it wasn’t for him. But if I could have traded my life for his I would have. He was such a good person and helped so many people. His funeral was full of people like me. Total strangers that he saved by giving time and love to. I’m not religious but I know I met an angel.

1. A girl who loves me and cares for me (and who I can do the same for), even with my issues and shortcomings.

2. My grandparents. I will never forget every time we used to visit them, and grandma would always tell me: "don't fall down the stairs!"

3. My dad. He is really lonely because he does not really have any friends besides my mom, and mom is busy with a short course for work. So they have been separated for a few days.

4. Anyone who shares my interests and is a good person. I am in need of friends.

Sandy. Our last day together was sailing on the ocean. We had chips, fried chicken and beer. We were set. I even bought her a hoodie at a garage sale. It ain't easy pulling up crab rings in a sailboat, but we managed. I had no idea she had cancer.. I was just glad that her last day was doing what she loved to do.
